Anybody familiar with Liga MX clubs?

Are the clubs in the first couple divisions (Liga MX and Ascenso MX) usually a safe place for players, or are they basically shitholes like the rest of the country? I know the nice areas of Mehico are really nice and you dont usually want to drive between them, but are they decent for players trying to make a buck playing?
ETA: wondering about the leagues/cities in general, but mostly Grupo Pachuca... Pachuca, Mineros, Leon, etc etc

Mi bueno amigo Miguel actually played for Leon and I just texted him a screenshot of this thread.
He said several Mexican clubs have ties to the cartels and therefore every team's assets (especially players and coaches) regardless of ties or no ties is very safe and protected. Top notch security and if someone tried something it would be Armageddon.
Also why it's so tough to "end the cartels", because they are in everything.

Well Villafana and his wife were robbed at gunpoint at an exchange house in-between the games during the LIGA MX finals a couple years ago so I'm gonna say shitholes.

I can’t remember which one, but some USMNT player played down there and was robbed within like his first week with the team or something.

Orly?
Kinda what I figured.
I am trying to decide between working with an MLS org that will sell easily/quickly(and cost more to work with), or a member of Grupo Pachuca that will give us autonomy and support, but is of course less known(lower cost as well).
I'm not worried at all about curriculum or support developing players. We have that handled.

Cool man, thanks for the help.
There are definite benefits to both sides, and definite potential roadblocks... this being the main one on the MX choice(aside from the brand recognition)
