If you purchase on the FIFA buy/exchange, is it true you aren’t guaranteed the seats will be together?

It seems that way based on the language, which is really stupid. I believe they try, but it is a possibility. Think the same scenario applies to the tickets you may win from the lottery too.

That doesn’t sound right. The option yall are referencing seems to be if you want to request to have seats next to someone else who also purchased tickets.

No, your seat location is not a valid reason to cancel or return your ticket. Seats within the same ticket category may differ in rows, sections, or locations. FIFA Ticketing does not guarantee that you and your guests will be seated together, even if you submitted your applications at the same time or for the same match.
In addition, please note the following:
FIFA Ticketing attempts, but does not guarantee, to seat together multiple tickets for a match that you purchase within a single transaction that are in the same ticket category in your ticketing account at the time of seat assignment. For specific details, please refer to Clause 3.3 of the Ticket Terms of Sale for General Public.

I was fortunate to win an early lottery. I bought 4 tickets and will be really annoyed if they split them. I am hopeful that wording is a “CYA” type clause for those outliers that they do have to split.
There is a “sit together” function when you checkout. You put someone else’s order number in and they will try to put the groups together, so don’t get that function mixed up with others.
For the resellers on the market, seats have not been assigned. So it may be best to wait until seats are assigned so you know what you are buying.
