Maybe play Milito there? Tevez and Messi want to occupy the same space, which pushes Messi deeper into midfield, where he's not nearly as effective.

I don't see any way Tevez and Messi can play together if Tevez plays as undisciplined as he did last game.

Messi is looking to pass and get a return ball like at Barcelona. It isn't happenning with this squad, yet.

I've never understood the need for Argentina to play Messi centrally. He doesn't need to be Maradona. He's their best wide player, and can stretch teams horizontally.

I'm starting to think Messi is Messi because he plays with the best midfield in the world at Barcelona.

Messi is the Messi-he-is because of this, he's the best player in the world wherever he plays. I think the wide forwards Barcelona have give Messi the space he needs in the center. Neither of Argentina's forwards are true wide players. It's too congested for him to do Messi shite.

In addition to that, Argentina's midfield isn't nearly as fluid. Banega likes staying deep, as do Cambiasso and Mascherano. Messi would be better off wide, as that would give him more space, and would make more space in the center.
