Very good performance today. Elneny, Welbeck, and Iwobi have brought a much needed freshness to the squad.

So Arseblog and Gunnerblog brought up a terrifying proposition last week. What if Wenger is all that's keeping Kroenke from making us Aston Villa? We don't know that Wenger isn't the only reason we are still in the top 4 consistently.

I do think Wenger's time is up (Id never hang a banner saying so). But I'm very nervous we go into a new manager tailspin when we do move on.

This is my biggest fear.

Obligatory 2nd page bump.

Bellerin not looking to leave Arsenal any time soon.

Also, the German newspaper Bild says Arsenal is going after midfielder Granit Xhaka of Borussia Monchengladbach. Anyone know anything about him? Does Bild usually have good information or is this just your typical rumor?

I definitely hear what they're saying, but we've also recently loosened the purse strings on guys like Alexis and Ozil, and Wenger could/should have managed this team to a title this year. It's certainly true that all Kroenke cares about is making money but I think it's easiest to do that with a title-chasing, consistently top 4 team now that we're out from underneath the stadium right?

IMHO, the more apt comparison would be turning Arsenal into United like the Glazers have. Of course, I'm still not sure how much of United's issues are ownership versus subpar managerial choices.

Thoughts?

That is the big fear I have with Wenger leaving. Who would do a better job? They all have jobs at huge clubs. I think the culture of the club is to always be in adherence with FFP. We don't have the revenue that ManU has and we never will.

We have more talent than Tottenham or Leicester. We have the best record in the Top 6 table. We've been poorly prepared and played poorly against the weaker sides. That's on Arsene.

More on Coquelin, Santi and Welbeck being injured than on Arsene.

I disagree. Even with the injuries, Arsene only got a keeper this past summer, knowing we constantly have depth problems. And again, even with those injuries we should still be able to consistently beat the mid table teams without too much difficulty.

Completely agree. The loss of the Santi/Coq pairing in midfield changed our entire campaign. Ozil's potential epic season just dissolved without the passmaster Santi behind him.

Tottenham is currently building a stadium bigger than the Emirates, they aren't making excuses either. Part of me says it will be hard to replace Wenger, but part of me also thinks he's aarogant and is too comfortable. With mourinho and anciolotti out of jobs, it's basically pep and Wenger at the top as highest paid managers/ coaches in the world of any sport.

The Wenger's and SAFs aren't happening anymore. People don't stay at one place for 20 years anymore.

At some point Arsenal will have to make a change.

The fact that we were ever so reliant on such a limited (and accidental) midfield pairing speaks for itself.

2015 as a calendar year was fantastic. But it's about putting it together for an entire season, which requires the sort of realism and ruthlessness to realize that Per, Arteta, and Flamini aren't good enough to win you the league, and that you need to spend 28 million on Schneiderlin (or whoever) to strengthen.

Arsenal should certainly be closer than 11 points off (8 pts if we win the game in hand), and Arsenal have let more than a few points slip through their fingers this season, but I think this season highlights just how tough and how much fortune is needed to win the league.

Take Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool for example. All traditional or recent powers, yet they're all struggling and/or fighting for a Champs League spot; none are challenging for the league this season. Chelsea won the league last year fairly easily but were in a relegation fight for a large chunk of the year. Utd and City spent tons this past summer but they're both struggling. Liverpool nearly won the league two seasons ago but they might not make it back into Europe next season. Nothing is guaranteed even if $$$ is spent.

Arsenal have, again, suffered their annual strings of injuries, and it's affected 2016 pretty heavily. Leicester, conversely, haven't suffered any injuries like it, have played beyond their potential, (IMO) and they're now in great position to win it. Very fortunate for them to not have suffered injuries like other teams. Same with Sp*rs to my recollection; I don't believe injuries have plagued them quite too much this season.

It's no excuse for Arsene or the players, but it would be dishonest to ignore the difficulty of winning the league. I don't think removing Arsene is the answer, but upgrades and/or investments at some positions are heavily needed this summer.

Also, I think this season highlights just how much we need Santi in the middle. We've been mediocre since his injury.

We are getting linked with a few pretty good players over the past couple days. I'll believe it when I see it though

Also hearing that Jack could be back as early as next week. Might get a run out against Newcastle for the U21s.

Until the club announces a signing there is always doubt. I mean, we all get excited about big names, but I've learned to temper those. Well, somewhat.
