Those stats tell me nothing other than what I posted above.

98 World Cup was the definition of not playing well. I thought the tournament was bad losing the first 2 games but when Iran scored on us to lose to them, I thought the world was coming to an end.

Germany: shots - 13(6), possession - 68%, passes - 754, corners - 3
USMNT: shots - 4(0), possession - 32%, passes - 365, corners - 2
And we also started Brad Davis

2014 is called a poor performance because Landon wasn’t there. I mean to say that JK snubbing Landon and bringing Wondo and Brad Davis has opened up that performance to more criticism than it probably deserves.
We didn’t play great in that group stage but we weren’t a great team, so that’s not surprising. We weren’t a great team with Landon either.
We were the least talented team in the group and obviously far inferior to Belgium, so to get to that game and be within a shank of winning is an impressive result.
We know the players didn’t like Klinsmann and that he is a sub-par tactician, so it’s something that they together were able to achieve a decent result.

I clarified my meaning in the next sentence. You may still not agree, but you can see that I never stated we had a great performance. By some measures, it can be called a good performance.
It’s also unfair to say that Ghana outplayed us and that we were lucky to win that game.
That early goal caused them to play aggressively and us to go into a shell a bit especially without having Jozy to help keep the ball in our end.
And when they scored, we responded right away.
Yes their attack was more dangerous than ours for much of the game, but that’s not everything.

Ghana had 62% possession. Not great for us.
