the only way this comes watchable if belgium somehow scores. then they will have to somehow let england score and so on

Imagine going into the knockout rounds having walked over the Rec League teams of Tunisia and Panama, and then resting your stars and playing negative football against your one actual opponent because you're afraid of Brazil.
Both of these teams are going to be the most unprepared/untested teams in the R16

I have no doubt some first time soccer watcher is going to tune in and will never watch a game again

Nothing. The Belgians in particular are actually trying not to score when they get into the box.

It's obvious Belgium won't score, and England is going to win the group, so why not try and actually win?
Posted on 6/28/18 at 1:48 pm to Pettifogger
When is England going to start getting red cards on purpose?
Posted on 6/28/18 at 1:49 pm to Winston Cup
I hope Colombia beats whomever they play
Posted on 6/28/18 at 1:49 pm to TheWalrus
It only makes sense if they do that or have a masterplan for an OG

In this situation, if the game ends in a draw, why isn’t the tie breaker strength of win against 3rd place team, then 4th place team.
For example, let’s say panama holds 1-0 over Tunisia, why wouldn’t they put England as the 1st place winner because they are +5 against them and Belgium is +3.
What is the obvious thing I’m missing?

That's what I was thinking during the 1st half of Colombia/Senegal. I've been crowing to all my friends about how amazing the World Cup is and has been. I was hoping they didn't decide to start watching that one or this one.
Also, I love Belgium's kits. They look like the Kansas City Chiefs out there. Come to think of it...they're kind of like the Chiefs. Always in the mix, but get taken out before they get somewhere too interesting.

Sucks that this game and France vs. Denmark, which were great on paper, have turned into boring passing sessions with both teams content to draw. I get it, but it’s not fun for neutrals to watch bad soccer like this.
