When can the public start tarring and feathering judges again?
I’m a chemical engineering professor and one of my most difficult classes to teach is Mass and Energy Balances. It’s not because the material is particularly difficult, but I have to completely break students’ patterns of “thinking.” These kids are typically ones that have done well in school and fall victim to the “memorize the test, get A, feel good about yourself” that K-12 education has become. I get lots of upset comments about how I don’t give study guides, and that my exam questions are different from homework textbook problems… I have to spend so much time explaining that engineering is about problem solving. That there’s not one single way of doing a problem. That you have to have an understanding of the physics, chemistry, and math concepts to be able to logic out a solution to a problem, and that if you have those fundamentals you can actually solve problems you haven’t been directly taught.

There are bright spots of students who eventually get it, and most of those tend to be athletes. My hypothesis is that students that played competitive sports are more comfortable with negative emotions and understand that failure (on the small scale and in practice) is how you ultimately achieve the learning outcome. That class has become less about teaching the material and more about being a therapist for students who have never faced adversity in anything. I keep hoping that it’s the last variations of the Covid math kids, and that we can return to a more comfortable steady state of expectations, but it’s rough.
DeBoer is great at breaking streaks.
Gotta be at least three right?

How much would Cignetti cost?
It’s not fun being on the receiving end of a Sabanesque beat down.
We’re going to need at least one non-offensive touchdown to have a chance at this comeback
At least we didn’t get shut out…

That was a sad field goal.

The idea of going for it there was so dumb. What is the reward for getting it? Still having 35 yards until field goal range? Risk-reward was idiotic

I think the defense needed a breather was the reason to go for it
Kinda looked like the ball was coming loose as he was going to the ground
If he slid then the IU safety should have been flagged for helmet to helmet on a defenseless player. If he was tackled then he picked it up.

They will come after him now

Then let’s call some hot slant routes and kill them that way

Alabama doesn't have much of a running attack without Jam Miller

Clearly, you have not watched Alabama this season. Alabama only has a rushing attack without Jam Miller.

I actually like Alabama and Miami next week

If the B1G didn’t have any teams make the final four, it would be comedy gold.

This needs another update…
The higher they climb the harder they crash.
SEC is 1-0

Big XII is 0-2

On Bernard’s contested catch, both players hands were on the ball as Bernard was making his “football move”, therefore he never “established control” as it was contested all the way through it coming out.

You’re blind or just intentionally obtuse. He caught the ball establishing the catch and coming down with the ball behind the defender’s back. The defender never got a hand on the ball until both feet came down and Bernard started turning. If the ball would’ve come out at that point it would be a catch and fumble. They continue fighting for the ball to the ground. No different from a linebacker trying to strip a running back on a dive up the middle. Bernard’s back hits the ground, and the ball pops out.

On the FG, the camera angle wasn’t exactly underneath, so it by itself isn’t the evidence you need, but it provided the basis for a fair review to reassess whether the ball did entirely pass within the uprights. And it really surprises me there wasn’t more dissection from the media (as stated the officials can’t review it as it was above the uprights). So it appeared to be a prime opportunity for officials putting their hand on the scale, and I’m surprised therefore no one is questioning the call.

Again, you’re subscribing to a non-existent narrative. The refs followed the rules, same as when the one ref threw the 15 yard penalty flag because he ran into the bench area and lightly bumped a grad assistant 50 yards away from the play. The rules are the rules.
On the catch. Germie went over his back caught it clean. Came down got two feet down establishing him as a runner with possession. He then went to the ground before the ball came out. It was a catch, a tackle, and then the ball came out.

They made it quite clear on the broadcast that if a ball is kicked over the upright the entirety of the ball must be inside to be considered successful attempt. Many years ago in a meaningless bowl game it screwed Bama against Iowa St and Seneca Wallace. It’s how the rule is written.

You’re just salty that Bama won again. I do give you props for complaining about something other than the traditional refrain of holding calls.
