it feels like theyve got some college football/NFL guy running the show. all the cutaways and replays are typical football moves, which obviously dont work in soccer.

Apparently it is a shared broadcast and the weird cuts have been an issue on Univision too

Exactly, this tournament had a 3rd party service that tournament organizers hired to produce the "world feed." That is what FOX, as the rights holder, has access too. Univision had same exact broadcast/camera work. Nothing Fox can do about the production in game, as they do not control the camera shots/replays.
