Was there a yellow card shown the entire match?

Not that I recall. Only Ramos with a challenge in the first half against Podolski was even close to a yellow IMO.

That really wasn't too different than euro 08...just too much possession and time on te ball. I'm just really surprised that it ended on a set piece

Yeah I figure it was just the height thing.

Both Spain and Germany lacked a bit of crispness, otherwise this game could have been higher scoring.

This should be a lesson to every one that you should never do zone marking on a corner kick.

Germany had a couple of chances to score on the counter and they let themselves down with touch, they were going to have to score on the counter and they didn't.

The crispness wasn't there from either Ozil or Jesus. Again, Mueller's absence was a huge factor.

Schweinsteiger covered the entire field. He did well, but Ozil looked disinterested or something.

At one point, when Spain was creeping ever closer to a goal, I really thought Germany was gonna score against the run of play. then the corner happened and they were done. Without the ability to counter an attacking Spain side, they had no offensive ideas.

Probably not usto big games. Also Spain playing two holding midfielders pretty much took away the space that he usually has to operate in.

The problem with 2 holding midfielders is when you go down, you have to push one forward and it's hard to keep possession. Germany plays free flowing on offense ideally. Just touch and go but Spain clogged the midfield (something Maradona didn't figure out) and the wide players didn't do enough. Muller would have helped but with Ozil's service being that poor, it probably wouldn't have changed the outcome.

I knew the game was over when Loew brought on fricking Mario Gomez instead of Cacau.

Agree- Cacau should have been brought in...

Most of the shite talking here doesn't really bother me because I'm actually a Germany fan. I don't just hop on it for the World Cup.

That would require breaking teams down through possession or individual brilliance. Germany could probably play a pretty good possession game if they geared the team toward that.
