Disses MLS and omitted Giovinco

quote:

As for Sebastian Giovinco, Ventura said the high-scoring forward for MLS club Toronto FC has been left out because he "plays in a league that doesn't count for much."

Italy doesn't need Sebastian Giovinco, but dropping him over MLS is dumb
From the comments in the above article:
quote:

Leonardo Pavoletti, Eder, and Manolo Gabbiadini have only scored seven goals between them and Zaza can't even get a game for West Ham lol .

I actually think Giovinco could be deadly in that Italian 3-5-2 with someone like Pelle holding the ball up.

ETA: Waiting on wm72 to come shite all over this

Giovinco is not better than Belotti, Immobile, Insigne, Pavoletti, Rossi, Gabbiadini, or Balotelli who's not even called up. Can't even say he'd be ahead of Lapadula lol.

MLS is irrelevant and Gio would struggle to stand out for a mid table serie a club

Eder and Zaza suck. Pavoletti is easily a better striker, and Gabbiadini is a 10 being pigeon holed into an unfamiliar role because Napoli literally have no other options with Milik injured.

Geography
Football/Basketball
Youth system setups

Brazil started two players in midfield who play in China. Funny that Italy considers itself above "second tier leagues" but Brazil doesn't.
