In the US maybe, but not in Europe which is what those numbers were being compared to.
Also pretty sure other American leagues don't count comped ticket no shows. A free ticket that was then NOT used should not count as "attendance" in any way, shape, or form

You've never been to a game, seen the "official" attendance, and thought "no way"?
I was at the Alabama/Washington semi in the Georgia Dome this year. It was obviously not packed and they said it was the highest attendance ever for the Georgia Dome.
