AS NOLA

Pittsburgh is black and yellow you dolt.
Because you're not smart enough to see the forest for the trees, one city=one color scheme = gay.

For a guy who argues about a fake name, arguing a slight difference in color is amusing.

yes every sports team in NOLA should have black and gold
Agreed. I would hate all the teams having the same color-scheme.

didn't Pittsburgh already do this?
The teams in Pittsburgh having the same color scheme are an homage to the city flag:
There is no logical reason any of the teams in NOLA should share black and gold. I think any soccer team should try to play off of Mardi Gras, using related imagery and colors.

I only mentioned black and gold as a partnership with Tom Benson, if he would want to own the team and make them wear pink and silver I'd be down.

Pirates were blue, then blue and red way back in the day. I think they changed colors in the 1950s, iIrc, it's been awhile since I read it. But I know that by the 1960 World Series ....Bill Mazeroski's homerun off of Ralph Terry wins it...they were wearing black and yellow/gold. But it was more of a mustard color than a bright yellow.

This is all hypothetical anyway, but it's worth at least talking about on a boring work day morning.
The problem with Gormley and Pan Am, assuming a renovation in either case, is proximity to other attractions. They're not within walking distance of hotels, restaurants, the French Quarter, etc. They're both close to - but not connected to - the different spurs of the Canal streetcar line. There is access to I-10, I-610, Canal, the Lakefront, and Veterans and West Esplanade (via slight detours), but some of that is through residential areas. There may also be issues with City Park about building out too much.
The area near Zephyr's Field could be interesting and could really work as an economic engine in a larger project, especially if a local downtown-to-airport or New Orleans-to-Baton Rouge train line were to be established. If just a stadium were built, a transit stop that was only serviced during events could be built to service both the soccer stadium and Zephyr's Field. If a stadium and a multi-story parking facility were built, the transit stop could serve as a Park-and-Ride facility some of the time and an event facility other times. If a stadium, parking facility, and mid-rise commercial/residential TND were built, a transit stop could service an entire new community. Again, access to the amenities of downtown New Orleans could be a concern. Discounting a potential train stop, though, there is inadequate street access: Airline Dr, David/Dickory to I-10/Earhart, and Transcontinental. If the Earhart to Airline improvements that were proposed in the now-dated East-West Corridor study were to happen it would help some, but it would be a pain for fans commuting in from the whole region.
As for the team colors thing, the reason the team might want to use black and gold colors (IF the Bensons were major stakeholders in the franchise) would be for cross-promotion. Dual season ticket packages, merchandise, advertising, brand awareness... all that stuff.
The best location for a stadium would be in the Sports and Entertainment district, near all the other amenities that the Superdome and the Arena can bring to bear. If the Superdome isn't an option, there are three longshot possibilities for land for a stadium: some of the area in the proposed footprint of the teaching hospital that will be left vacant for many years, the area where City Hall and the Council buildings currently sit (assuming they were moved), and the current site of the Iberville projects. Someone would have to buy the land (unless a creative lease and tax agreement were made with the city, as has been done in Houston for their SSS) and build the stadium, which would make the buy in costs higher. This is why I keep coming back to the Superdome, although - again - I don't know if we have the dimensions of the field space that will exist after the current renovations. If it comes up short by like 5x2 yards, I'm going to be pissed.
