Why is everyone acting like Belgium is finished?

I don’t get it either, but for all the talent, they’ve failed big time
But it’s the Dan Marino story
Went to a Super Bowl early in his career, everyone said, yea he’ll be back.

Probably because they are so reliant on a core group of guys who will probably be completely exhausted come next winter. Especially if they all have deep club campaigns in Europe.

Italy has been the most entertaining and complete team so far.

Props for calling it before the tournament

What point was he trying to make? That Belgium did well or underperformed?

Sorry I didn’t clarify

TT was the first quote, and Darke was the response

Twellman was taking up for them saying they should be proud of their accomplishments

Belgium has some elite talent but always had flaws, primarily on the wings (esp on the left) and in the midfield

They are also a tiny country that has done well to reorganize their youth system and compete against larger nations. Continued investment in youth and maybe holding another large tournament could spur them on to reach the standards of the Netherlands in terms of youth production. They needed a better system too. A 3 at the back system for its own sake was bad.
