For the sake of the argument, it's odd that the best thing we can come up with regarding Berhalter's hire is "oh, well he never won a championship, but he did finish ahead of some teams more talented than his in MLS"
Does that really move the needle?
thats what im trying to say
his results were average for the most part, yes he did have a couple sides that were not top tier talent but he isn't a world beater manager even by MLS standards.

We played well and without some of our best players.

When you say we played well, what are you comparing it to?
Did we look more cohesive than Jurgen's teams? For the most part, yes.
Did we look better than Bob's teams? Nope.
I'm genuinely curious, pville. When you watch USMNT matches, what is your litmus test for them?
ETA: For me, I hold every USMNT match up to how we played in the 2010 World Cup and the pre-Dolo injury 2011 Gold Cup team.
To date, I have not seen a USMNT put together a better string of matches than that. We're approaching a decade since we looked our best...
That's a problem.

Strong feeling Trapp starts tonight. Listening to Sirius XM FC yesterday, Dunny made a good point as to why Trapp should start, this could be the game to show if Trapp should still be around the national team. Put him out there and if he cant hang then he is done (not exact wording)

I think that's the case to be made for Morales.
This is his first camp back since like 2015 I think and he'll only be here for this game. Tonight is his opportunity to prove he deserves a call-up next month.

That's a problem, and the fact that you accept that is just as big of a problem.

The problem remains that we don't have many players in the 24-28 age range.

The talent pool is much deeper now than it was in 2010.

Which is a complete and utter failure by everyone involved with the USMNT and USSF.

I'm hoping to see something like this tonight:
Steffen
Dest-Long-Brooks-Lima
Morales
McKennie-Pulisic
Morris-Sargent-Boyd

How is the USMNT supposed to develop player when they only see them for 8 days every other month (and 2 of those days are game days) and you don't even see every player every window? They only have time to put a game plan in place.
