Pretty solid take on it. I can forgive Pulisic for a mishit based on his play otherwise. Tim and Haji legit just spazzed out in a way that shouldn't happen at this level. Zimmerman out there thinking he's fricking Pele with the overhead attempt had me laughing my arse off.

Well, which one? Those two things are different.

What the frick ever….a forward that can lethally finish….a Karim Benzema type…..or since you seem a little light on the Euro side an in form Jozy or a Dempsey with something to play for.

This would be easier to digest if it WAS a moral victory. This was a shite-the-bed moment. This was a big stage for a young group, and they played like a young group who'd never been there before. Poor choices in front of goal, and forgetting the basics (man marking inside the 18) on defense. That's it. Finish a couple of directly in front of goal chances (Pulisic, Ream, Wright) AND frickING MARK SOMEBODY and this is match we win.

This. I disagree with whoever said these teams were of similar quality, though. We don’t have a dude at Barca and a guy about to command a 70m+ transfer fee up top. We can’t sub on a defender for Bayern to shore up a late lead. Our centerback starters play for Fulham, Nashville FC, and Celtic, not Manchester city and Liverpool. Our star players are a bench player for Chelsea and a midfielder for a bottom half prem side. We still came out on the front foot and controlled the tempo of the game against a European power. At the end of the day a young team didn’t perform to their standard in the moment, and that’s a shame because you get punished for that at this level. They will learn from this and be better for it, but again I stand by my view that there are a ton of positives to take away from this tournament and they far, far outweigh the negatives.
