That's fair. She's a really cool chick on social media, so that will help.

.how do professional soccer players always miss shots 30ft over the goal??? This would be like NBA throwing it over the back board on 3 pointers.

You are comparing shooting a basketball that is mostly based on finesse to shooting a soccer ball that often includes putting a lot of power into your shot, along with finesse. It doesn't make sense to compare the two.

Thailand has zero chance of scoring on Endler. She's a savage keeper. I'm crushing on her after watching the US match.

let them get at least a point... esp. after getting that goal against Sweden

they suffered that massacre at the hands of the US

She's just not good enough to crack this midfield.

ETA: Been battling injuries for years and has barely even played for her club.

Any chance the US can pick up Endler in free agency for the round of 16 after Chile is out?

Yup. Scoring is ducking hard. There’s a reason Ronaldo is a beast. He consistently scored with power shots which are hard to keep accurate.

I’m not talking about missing on every shot, but how they miss, it’s absolutley ok to ask why they miss 30 freaking feet over the net? That was my point. It would be one thing to miss wide, or just over the net...or even off a post, but my lord, every shot is 30 dam feet over the net.

Professional guys miss some baffling shots by wide margins. It isn’t exclusive lol

Not even kidding. If trades were possible, I’d trade Chile whatever bench players they want (or Dunn) for Endler.

The drop-off from Hope Solo to this next generation of GKs is pretty big. Don’t trust Naeher’s feet at all.

What's so hard to understand that shooting with power will usually end with shots that get skied over the goal if the ball isn't hit right? It's much different to kick a moving ball into a net protected by a goalie than to shoot a stationary basketball from your hands into an unprotected basket. Basketball requires accuracy, not power when shooting. That's why you don't see players shooting the ball over the backboard very often. If a basketball goal was bigger, vertical, and had a goalie protecting it, you can bet your arse you'd see shots flying over it more often.

It’s hard to control the ball off your foot on a power shot. Pretty much sums it up. It’s super easy to sail the ball. I mean. Top notch QBs often sail balls by 20+ yards and those are easier to control. Doesn’t take much.
