Tarnished? No. He still has a lot of hardware.
But he's damaged it.
Should have left after the 14 FA Cup win when his last deal was up. Leave with a trophy and having guided through stadium build.

I guess it depends on how you remember him.
I'll remember him as the man that won 6 (hopefully 7) FA Cups, 3 premier league titles, one unbeaten season, a champions league final & a new stadium.
In saying that, this season is hurting him. In the bigger picture, it's only one bad year in twenty. But we haven't gotten any better in years.
So I think it's probably that he's hurt his legacy a little bit, but I hope when in 10 years or whenever, when he's long gone, people choose to remember what all good he did for Arsenal instead of his (probable) last years

Nah, it's not like they are 12th. 20 straight years in the CL or whatever it is will probably not be matched.

Leave him alone!
I need him to continue the down spiral that is Arsenal. Everton can reach Euro if they keep falling.

I mean great, he's made it however many years in a row and then proceeded to not advance passed the round of 16 in like ten straight.

This past year(s) has produced a slight chink in the armor, but his career still speaks for itself.
He is not winning any new support any time soon though.

He's still a good manager, but the game has passed him buy. You have to have a cogent system. We haven't had one in 5 years or so. Just commit to something. We play this half-assed sort of game and have since 2014 or so. He's failing his primary principle, namely to win while entertaining the audience, which he hasn't done since that 2010 team.

You really are not a very well informed soccer fan. The only time they were favored to get through was against Monaco in 2015.
He has just been stubborn and unwillingly to do what it takes to win games. Always wanting to play the "beautiful game". That only gets the job done when you have better players at almost every position.

His legacy is mixed, but a very good one, when it's all said and done. A legacy most top flight managers would only dream of. Seems like a nice man, too, compared to many other managers.
The Invincibles will forever be remembered as one of the greatest teams of all time, and his consistency alone in such a competitive league is deserving of tremendous respect. He is without a doubt one of the most accomplished managers active today.
However, his lack of success in recent years, FA Cup aside, will leave a bitter taste in the mouths of many Arsenal fans for a while. He's gotten Arsenal close to glory many times, but many will say his teams have underachieved. I think a decade after retirement, he will be looked on far more fondly by Gunners fans than he is now. Such is the fate of many great coaches.
To make a comparison to another sport, Phil Jackson has damaged his legacy somewhat by contributing to the mess that is the New York Knicks organization. Wenger's best achievements will always be remembered and celebrated, but he has his share of disappointments, as well.

He's tarnishing it as we speak. It's not that we won't finish top 4 this year. It's the fact that his selfishness is dividing the fan base. It's beyond toxic at the Emirates and won't get any better anytime soon. I love Arsene for what he's done and he is one of the best managers ever. If Arsene would just step down after this season then the healing process would begin and in time people would remember the great times and this season would be just a one off. Arsene re-signs after this season and then he will truly hurt his legacy beyond repair.

I'm sorry to do this, but you were looking for "re-signs" not "resigns". I do agree on your point though. Wenger needs to leave at the end of the season. Otherwise, he's really running a risk of creating some hard feelings unless he can suddenly figure out a way to fix a number of his weaknesses and pull of something magical next season. I think we all know that won't happen though.
To be clear, those hard feelings won't ruin what Wenger has done as a manager, but it could increase the amount of time it takes before most Arsenal fans are really ready to honor his accomplishments.

So you think someone is 'not well informed' for thinking one of the biggest clubs in the world is underperforming after losing year after year in the round of 16? I get that City are relatively new to the Champions League, certainly compared to Arsenal, but I'd be livid with Pep and the club as a whole if he somehow stays for six years and we continually lose in the first knockout stage.
11-12 against AC Milan was a very winnable pairing, Monaco, like you said, was an embarrassment at the time and a 10-2 aggregate loss to Bayern this season should make anyone who claims to be a Gunner throw up when mentioned.
I'm not saying he should have advanced in all of them, but I don't think any Arsenal fan out there is satisfied with the recent results in the competition. If they are, then that's why Arsenal blows dick now. Because they're fine w/ mediocrity and never defeating Bayern/Barca on the big European nights.
I say this and I guarantee they knock City out of the FA Cup later this month

Haha it's ok. It was late last night when I posted so I didn't proof my post.

I know but I think as of now he'll be remembered very positively in 20 years time. Now if he sticks around another 2 or 3 years and things continue to deteriorate that may change.

It's a Bobby Bowden situation. He just needs to get out, and he will still be loved long term.
