Havertz having a bit of a stinker.

Werner looks like the real frickin deal.

RLC sucks.

Kepa sucks more than I thought he would

Everyone else is about average as I thought.

Kante looks pretty solid. Love his ball hawk abilities

Would have been awesome if Timo could have converted that.

Lampard seemed pretty sure in his Post Game that Kepa was his goalkeeper and anyone else that might be brought in was just Chelsea's normal mode of always looking for the best. Was that simply coach speak? That lad looks quite unsure of himself as of late.

As a side note, Werner's off ball movement was amazing. Looking forward to great things from him.

Coach speak. Mendy will be in goal in a few weeks. He’s also trying to keep Kepa engaged.

Not bad for first effort and like the OP said, the cavalry hasn’t suited up yet. Hopefully we’ll have at least half of those missing against Liverpool this weekend.

I just watched the match and I was very underwhelmed...starting with the lineup. My assumption is that Lamps is trying to drive up the value of some potential transfers.

As for the “regulars”:

Mount worked hard (as usual) and didn’t close down his man on their goal (as usual).

Kante looks to be playing truly in the middle, and I don’t get that. Our back line is shite and he is one of the best holding ids in the world.
As a result, we really struggled when they began to press...including him. RLC should give him a breather to keep him healthy.

Timo looked great off of the ball. He is going to pair nicely with CP10 etc.

Kai didn’t get much service, but I am sure that he will be great. His 60 yard recovery (after losing the ball) was superb.

Despite the goal, Zouma is still quite meh.
Dave played a whole 10 minutes give or take.

Reese James should be our starter imho.

I would go:

Chillwell - Dave - Thiago - James

Hopefully as we go forward they can settle in and gel. Lord knows we have the talent.

We were pretty terrible today honestly. Should have moved lamptey or Reece to the left and not wasted all that money on Ben

Part of winning trophies is having the ability to win ugly. This squad has had about 2 days together total, and we were missing 5-6 of them. If kepa was even a gk a 3-0 score line feels a lot better. We weren’t great today but we won, and will only get better. How good, and whether that’s good enough to challenge for domestic and European honors we shall see.

BC wasn’t my first choice for left back. That being said, he is who we have at this point.

Dave inside of him would provide some cover.

Having a 5'10" and 6' centerback pairing would be suicide.

Zouma with TS should be good enough.

Havent been a big Christensen fan, but thought he had a good game today.

I think Dave will eventually move to the role Silva is coming into, but not yet. Reece looked like he was trying to stake a claim to RB today though. I agree we need a physical presence in the middle with the athleticism to cover/recover for Silva being caught out as well as win some headers. Sounds like zouma, Rudiger, Christensen in that order for me. Are we loaning tomori? Rice incoming? Ampadu?

It looks clear we will pursue a big money signing at CB next summer, and Silva should maintain one CB spot until then. We should be looking at a year long audition for that other spot. I really hope Zouma can make good on his massive potential though he could just as easily become the next Ross Barkley.

I have seen where Chelsea is supposedly floating Barkley and some cash in return for Rice. I personally would throw in Christensen as well. As for Dave and Thiago being short, they are. But the current crop of center backs don’t go to the ball at all, so their height is irrelevant. Give me guys that go to the ball over statues any day of the week. I still say we see another 5 or 6 departures before this window closes (most on loan). We will see I guess.

I would be so happy if we could dump Ross Barkley this window, Jorginho too.

Completely missed that. He needs to find some games somewhere other than with Wales. But he generally plays so well there it’s curious that he hasn’t replicated that elsewhere.

I hope that by playing him against Brighton that Lamps was illustrating that he still has value...for someone else.
