I’m assuming you think this because of margaritaville. While not a flashy guitar player at all he was a great partner to his band and a really good songwriter. Yes most of it was in the “white dude going to a tropical island” vein, but he had good songs outside of his radio hits.

You already know this but it’s past time to do it. Once they have no use for you they are just miserable and it’s so sad. Had to put my Aussie mix down after 16 years back in November. Vet really opened my eyes and said it’s better a month too early than a day too late.
Regarding your daughter I would explain that doggies don’t live forever and they’re only with us as long as they need to be and they make room for a new puppy one day so they can go to heaven. Whether you believe that or not it’s much easier for a child to imagine that than them just being gone. On one hand the anxiety of losing the dog can be rough but the surprise of no dog anymore can be bad too. I prepared our 7 year old a few days before just saying the dog was really sick and just was around for a few more days to say goodbye to everyone and he seemed to be fine with it. Getting a new puppy next month.
