We have 5 mids right now basically and still can't keep the ball. Primarily defensive formations have not been working with our youth guys. We really need to try things and find out who complements who and form a style of play based off of that.
Can't do that though if you don't tinker with the top just as much as you do with the back.

Could be, but the two that are defenders have pushed way up and left the flanks bare. There is zero reason a 5 man midfield should be overrun at any time.

Which has look more like a 3-5-2. Which is a horrible idea for the skill set that the young guys have.
I'd prefer a 4-4-1-1 that provides a Target and some movement/variation in attack and creative possibilities.
