This is the "high end" side of the way I was talking about "depth" being applied differently to the EPL above.

Exactly. Atleti have had one of the better teams this last decade, a team that would almost surely have won the PL between 2013 and 2017, when the league was fricking awful, yet gets treated like an also-ran. They are better at the low-block game than pretty much every English team, and are superb at counter-attacking. I just don't see how anyone can watch a random game between Spanish teams and not see the massive technical advantage Spanish teams usually possess.

EPL markets itself better, IMO, than most other leagues. Fergie at Man U was good at building United’s brand in non-euro or American markets (see Park, Chicharito). Barcelona and Madrid will always have a pull, especially in Latin American circles, but if you go to the Middle East, Asia - they love the EPL. A lot of teams do summer exhibitions there to 50k+ stadiums. Pretty sure summer of 2017 had Stevie G play with Liverpool team against Australia all star team equivalent or something to sold out stadium.

TLDR- a lot of exposure for an item can give appearance that it is best (like Nike for shoes). I enjoy the league a lot but think La Liga top 5/6 would fare pretty well against EPL top 5/6.

Leicester > Atletico > rest of PL

The thing that sucks is that teams like PSG that cakewalk through their laughable fixtures then have so much extra to tap into when they have Champions league matches.

Premier League is like the SEC - it beats the hell out of ye.

PSG hasn't been all that great in the CL. They've never made it past the quarter-final. Arguably the technical level in France is the same as in England, as many French players or players trained in France hit the ground running in England, and this has been true since the 90's.

The advantage that England has is that there is more money, but only now are English teams producing dribblers like the ones produced in France.

It’s like the SEC. there are some excellent teams but more importantly, you have to bring it everyweek. No breaks.
