Kinda off subject but not worth starting a new thread.....
How do you physically hook up a new thermostat? Is it pretty straightforward?

I believe mine has saved me money using the eco temperatures and the home/away modes.

I have an ecobee 4. Works great.

I also have my Ecobee set up with my Alexa routines for morning, night, and when we're out to change the thermostat.

Hooking up the thermostat should be real straight forward. There probably isn't more than 6 wires depending on system. They are industry standard color coded...so it should be a breeze. The actual thermostat portion that closes relays and provides the control voltage will look the same to an AC unit as any other thermostat. The brains are upstream of that..and you don't really interface with that physically...that's all manipulated via software and apps.

Yes. The apps walk you thru the install. I have Nest and Ecobee. I prefer ecobee. Nest is fine but ecobee is easier to use for anyone bc it’s a touch screen.

I had to go to the furnace and hook up a wire that apparently wasn't necessary for my old thermostat. The Ecobee helpdesk led me right through it, although it was a pain in the arse.
