Here's what LG has to say about OLED burn in...

OLED Image Retention or Burn-In: Burn-in and image retention are possible on virtually any display. However, with an LG OLED TV, any risk of burn-in or image retention have been addressed through the use of technology that not only helps protect against damage to the screen, but features self-healing properties so that any short-term image retention that may occur is quickly rectified. It is rare for an average TV consumer to create an environment that could result in burn-in. Most cases of burn-in in televisions is a result of static images or on-screen elements displaying on the screen uninterrupted for many hours or days at a time – with brightness typically at peak levels. So, it is possible to create image retention in almost any display if one really tries hard enough. And even if image retention does occur from extreme usage, it can usually be mitigated within a short period of time by turning the display off for a while, and watching a few hours of varying content (such as your standard TV watching and channel-surfing).
Additionally, LG OLED TVs come with special features and settings to preserve image quality and prevent burn in and image retention. First, there is a Screen Saver feature that will turn on automatically if the TV detects that a static image is displayed on screen after approximately two minutes. There are also three options (available in Menu setting > Picture settings > OLED panel settings) that can be used to preserve image quality. The first of these is the Clear Panel Noise feature that preserves the quality of the image on the display panel by resetting the TV so that it clears the pixels. This feature can be turned on when needed within the settings mentioned above. The second feature that can be employed is the Screen Shift feature which, moves the screen slightly at regular intervals to preserve image quality. A third option is the Logo Luminance Adjustment, which can detect static logos on the screen and reduce brightness to help decrease permanent image retention.
So, in short: Reasonable, responsible usage of an OLED TV, combined with powerful image preservation abilities should result in a seamless home entertainment experience.

That's a lot of wording instead of just saying MicroLED.

Plasmas were supposed to be burdened with the burn-in bug but mine never did that. Now wanting to get a new and larger TV, I want an OLED but it's these reports seem even more troubling to me.
Considering every sports event has static images on the screen for extended periods of time, I would think burn-in on those would be the biggest issue.

That's what I thought--nitwit.

lazy best buy employees left the tvs on all night every night sometimes stuck on 'startup screens' for dvds and other crap so the tvs on display always looked like shite and made the issue seem much worse than a normal person would have using the tv.

In other words, if you plan to spend a whole Saturday watching college football on espn, you’ll probably have the ESPN logo burned onto your screen for a while.

You asked, so I linked you where to buy one.
If you want the 75" consumer version it launches at CES in a month. I'm sure it'll be 5K+ at least.
But the point is, OLED will be going the way of plasma when MicroLED replaces it very soon so the arguments back in forth are pointless.

Yup, I’m not an OLED fan anyway.
The first residential US MicroLED was install last month in California. 146” version though.

Yeah, all they've said about the consumer 75" one is early 2020. Hopefully it's at CES.
Apple is also working on MicroLED for mobile.

So I'm supposed to live in the future & sit and watch inferior QLED tech for 3-5 years waiting for MicroLed prices to come down out of the stratosphere? C'Mom man...
Besides, by then they'll have something all new coming down the pipeline anyway; they always do.
So I might as we wait for that too, right?

No, there are people that keep up with new tech and people that just care about whats out now.
And who said 3-5? More like 2. We'll see how much the 75" one from Samsung is for early 2020. And even then 2 years after the first launch and eventual 65" models pricing could be 2021 so just over a year from now.
OLED has its downfalls, and presents a near similar picture to the top end QLED sets. Fanboying (yes I realize who I am talking to) for one or the other when they will both be outdated and outclassed in as little as a year by a brand new technology is fricking stupid.
Report: Apple to switch from OLED to microLED displays in Apple Watch as soon as next year
Apple was Granted a new micro-LED Patent today for Future High Resolution Displays that are Energy Efficient
Samsung obviously as well with their own.
