In New Orleans and use Cox for internet only, ATT fiber not available. Paying $150/month for 1G with Cox with a data limit which if we exceed that can be $200/month +, just for internet. I'm going to try out Tmobile for unlimited $50/month. We're fine with 200-300 mbps, we do very little gaming, primarily streaming and work. Also saving $1,000+ year is awesome.

But one challenge, looks like Tmobile gateway (5G Gateway G5AR/G5SE) doesn't allow me to disable the wifi or use bridge mode to connect to my nighthawk mesh router which I want to keep using. And I don't want to put the nighthawk in access point mode because I use guest networks and use other features.

Question for Board...I know if I can't turn the wifi off on the gateway and connect my nighthawk mesh I will create a "Double NAT" issue. However for regular residential use Double NAT really a problem, especially if there will never be a single device connected to the tmobile wifi network?

For saving $1000/year I'm fine with lower speeds and getting away from Cox, but I can't deal with reliability or connection issues. Thanks.

You can use the Hint Control app to turn off the G5AR Gateway Wifi.

If you’re using 5g internet then you’re already double NAT, so now you’re just triple. No big deal.
