Any advice on brands/specs I should look for? Neighbor has one that is USB for a smart TV and his works great, but he didn't know the brand.

Looking for something that will sit behind the wall mounted TV.

My TV's are Samsung Flat curved if that matters, all 2 years old.

It all depends on how far the stations are from you and if you need something that picks up UHF and VHF.

Head over to the FCC website and get a good grasp on where you are getting your signals from. The brand won’t matter if you don’t understand what you are trying to pick up.

Me personally, I have a Mohu Sail up in my attic and it works great. At my last house I had a Mohu Leaf behind some blinds in a window and it was picking up stations 60+ miles away.

Always get something with an amplifier. They are cheap enough to buy separately so no reason not to have one.

Thanks for the reply. That shows about 20 channels. My neighbor says he gets about 33 from an antenna behind his wall mounted TV. I found another website that showed about 30 or so.

Some of the ones on amazon state they can pick up 200+ miles away.

Yeah my address says 15 but I pick up 40+. Some of those channels won't get a good enough reception on to watch on though. In reality most people will probably use 4, the channel that has the best reception for each of the major networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC). I don't watch CW, ION, GRIT, etc.

I wouldn't count on it. You should reasonably expect to pick up most channels within a 50 mi radius with a good antenna and good conditions.

I have sling and didnt want to buy antennas for all 4 tvs in my house. I have one antenna and the rest of the tvs have paperclips in the Coax port. The paperclip catches all the over the air channels just fine.
