I ended up getting the Govee strip light form Best Buy. I don't know why I didn't realize what to do from the start. When we built the house we put a tray ceiling in and held down the crown. She has white rope lights in the crown now. I installed the Govee lights last night along the top of the crown.
The Govee app is great with plenty of good presets. This install doesn't look trashy at all. Hope the adhesive sticks properly. They use 3M tape so that is a good start.
I'm also replacing the 4 can lights with Hue cans. Although I'm having pairing issues. So much for high end Hue lights...
Also installing a set of Govee hexagon lights like the ones below but won't do that until after Christmas for the element of surprise.
I will post pictures of the finished product once I'm done.

Yea if I didnt have Hue already I would have looked at Govee. They dont have can light options?
