I watched MSP's Attack of La Nina again, since NOAA is calling for another one.

Northern Colorado favored in La Niña so I'll take it.

Thursday. Thursday. Thursday. Just gonna keep saying that to keep me calm. We are supposed to get some snow and cold temps starting Thursday.

Great choice. I came up to Steamboat for 3 days during the 3rd week of January last year before I moved here. Best snow of my life. Dump town every day.

If ya need to rent skis, check out Ski Butlers. I'll be working there this winter.

Just got an OpenSnow alert this morning.

Long range forecasts for late Nov and Dec are looking good too

Almost to 10 inches at Steamboat. Wish I didn't work tomorrow or I'd be busting out the AT setup.

Question for the experts: how difficult of a drive is it from Eagle airport to Vail? As steep of an incline as headed in from denver? Going in January and planning on renting a car/hoping the car has AWD but will FWD work alright? Praying for the snowstorm to hit after I make it to the mountain

Steamboat seems cheapest but 3-4 hour drive from Denver.

Steamboat is generally cheaper, and you can fly in to Hayden and bypass the 3-4 hour drive. I love Steamboat and wanted to go back in Feb, but the wife wants to go to PC.

I've never been to PC, but we just booked 4 nights 5 days at the Sundial Lodge at the Canyons Resort in PC. Anyone familiar with the area can tell me if this is a decent spot? It's ski in/ski out. Is it easy to get to and from the Park City base with gear, etc.? Can I get there by mountain/gondola/etc.? I've been looking at trail maps from last year, but I can't really tell.

Easy within the valley.

Great location at Canyons. Canyons and PC connect now since Vail Resorts bought them out. Current trail maps should show the mid mountain link. There's also the bus that can take you from Canyons to PC town like there always has been. Since you're staying in Canyons, you can basically start at Canyons base, make your way over to PC throughout the day and end up having some apres beers in PC, then catch the bus back to Canyons.

I know you're excited for the coming season, we all are for sure, but talking about going AT/BC in November makes it obvious you're new up here lol.

Ski pants... Do y'all recommend pants with or without suspenders? Most seem to only come up to the waste, nothing coming up higher like a bib

I prefer pants with no bib or suspenders. I'll usually wear a belt if needed. I guess it's really just personal preference. On the subject, I just ordered a bunch of new gear for the season at the-house.com. First time I've stumbled on the site and they have great pricing. Plenty of pre Black Friday deals.

Skinning around the top of Rabbit Ears is all I would have done. They have some nice Nordic trails. I just like being in the woods with snow.

Getting Avy1 cert in January.

The correct Step 1 for any aspiring BC traveler. I would buy your BC essentials before taking the class so you can use your own stuff and become more familiar with them while practicing and learning in the 3 day class.

Ski bibb is good if you might fall, or if sitting often. Snow getting in is cold and wet.
