In the early stages of planning a family trip (my wife and me with our 6 year old twins) for next ski season. Looking for recommendations on where to stay and where to eat. Ski in/ski out would be ideal. Thinking the Limelight looks good, but not sure. The kids are pretty good skiers so thinking Snowmass would be best mountain for us. Appreciate any advice/recommendations.

I think Snowmass may be more family friendly but its been a while since I was there. Either way...a great ski area.

Snowmass is awesome and it's really easy to do a day at one of the other mountains. Where ever you stay, they'll transfer your skis for you. I haven't stayed at Limelight but from what I've heard, I think it's pretty nice.

Limelight is nice enough.
It's on monarch and Hyman. Almost all of the restaurants are gonna be right by there (on hopkins).

Aspen mountain isn't great for kids. There are a few good mellow runs and easy tree runs up top. But snowmass is way better for them (and for you really unless you are a hard-core steep tree skier).

Depends on what you want. Much easier for night time dinner. And walking around and shopping in aspen. The bus transfer to snowmass is not bad. At all. I preferred to stay in aspen and transfer to snowmass to ski. Rather than stay in snowmass and have to transfer to aspen for dinner and fun.

Limelight was on our shortlist.
We got a deal at lift one. It had a hot tub and the transfer station and bus stop was too ideal to pass up.

I have great food recs. Merch shops. And run layouts to chat about if you are interested.

There’s the Limelight in Aspen (been there for a while) and the Limelight at the base of Snowmass (fairly new). They’re both nice, but not sure which one you’re talking about.

Snowmass has a ton of terrain and is a fantastic ski mountain and caters to families. Aspen mountain (Ajax) and Aspen Highlands have no beginner terrain at all, so make sure you plan accordingly.

The good thing about staying at either Limelight is that they run a free shuttle service between the hotels and you can decide to go between the 2 ski mountains at will.

Obviously the town of Aspen is totally different than the resort base at Snowmass, so that’s probably your key decision point if choosing between the 2.

Thinking limelight snowmass since that is probably where we would be doing most all of our skiing.

The Limelight at Snowmass is a great hotel and just steps to the gondola. The other main lift from the base is just a quick stroll through the plaza. It has a small little outdoor ice rink on the plaza side exit. If you’re staying in Snowmass, I think it’s a great choice.

If you decide to take a day or 2 and ski Ajax or just want to go to town, they shuttle runs between the 2 limelight hotels.

What about Crestwood and Woodrun?

We always go to Breck with a large group of families. Looking for a change now that all the kids can ski anywhere.
