We are headed to NYC for spring break and we were originally going to do whatever we could at yankee stadium then head to the zoo, but zoo isn’t really a big push so considering anything else? Botanical gardens is up by the zoo also so probably out. This was just a day to get out of manhattan.

I just wanted to see Yankee stadium and then kill a couple hours outside of manhattan?

How motivated are you? I had an awesome day where we tried to hit every borough. Staten island ferry to see the statue of Liberty, brewery on the other side, Brooklyn for good food and another brewery. Now that I'm thinking about that day, it was mostly alcohol/bar hopping oriented. We did see Martha Stewart coming out of a dance recital in I think Manhattan!

I have heard good things about the botanical gardens in the bronx

We are there a week, and I’ve never been. One day to ferry to Brooklyn, screw around, and walk the bridge back. So really just looking to take our time and enjoy something different. Probably get some pizza unless there’s another recommendation.

Like I said the initial plan was the zoo but I just don’t think it’s worth the extra effort to get there and spend the money. It’s a solid zoo but I don’t see anything we can’t miss. So I basically have a half day to kill or go back to manhattan.

I never felt like getting out much in the Bronx from what little I’ve seen. I’ve eaten in the Little Italy there a bunch (Arthur Ave) but that’s close to Fordham/the Botanical Garden so not sure that’s what you are looking for.

Forgot about the Cloisters in Washington Heights. I think that’s still manhattan but up near the Bronx.

With kids, I’d probably just take subway into Yankee Stadium for game and back out. But the Cloisters is pretty damn cool.

How old are the kids?

Arthur Avenue might be a no brainer for you. Basically little italy. Walk around and try some of the food. They got everything from pizza to cannolis to oysters. I went before I had my kids though so can't attest to kids activities. If you want to kill some time walking around a cool neighborhood with great food then I would to Arthur Ave.

We sadly never even made it to the Bronx. It was St Paddy's day and the weather was bad so we just watched the parade a little, which got old fast and was the same thing for like 6 hours as far as I could tell. Then bummed around central park in and out of the rain.

It wasn't baseball season so I figured my next trip in 30 years at the rate I'm going I'll have to do the Bronx and baseball.

City island is interesting. Very out of place for the Bronx. Good seafood and can do a boat tpur.
Also the real little Italy is worth a stop.
