Unfortunately it would be on a Friday or Saturday on a Holiday weekend as they are closed Sunday and Monday and we leave Tuesday
Keep in mind, many of the most sought after places still have open seating at the bar where you can get the full menu, so if it's only you and your wife, you can likely eat just about anywhere if you're willing to wait a bit. Also, many of them are really good about squeezing you in as a walk in, but again, it just might not be right when you get in there. Buddy and I just did this at Vern's on Friday, got seated at the bar at exactly the time she told us to come back.

Just got back from Charleston after spending the week there with the family. Shoutout to Chucktown. I went through several threads on this and the FDB for ideas.
Meals were 167 Raw (on King), 167 Bar (around the corner), Hall’s and Marble and Fin.
Food was top notch. Family enjoyed the shopping on King.
Sunset cruise with Palmetto. Yorktown, carriage ride.
Weather was fine. Knew it would be hot going in but was pleasantly surprised by how the breeze kept the heat at bay.
Spent several afternoons with my man Jacob at Burns Alley Bar while the ladies shopped.
Everyone had a blast. Will be back.

I lived in Charleston for 8 years. Summer is hot and water is wet, but it's not as bad as Louisiana heat and humidity. I just don't remember sweating in stifling humidity like i do here. Plus there's always the beach.

Funny comment as the high today is 98 with heat index of 112 in Charleston. We boiling in the Lowcountry right now.

You had a great itinerary. Always nice to get out on the water.

We were on the water all day Saturday on the ICW and out at No Name Beach by Ft Sumter. Wasn't bad at all.
Saw Taylor from Southern Charm on the beach out there

Nice. Saw your discussion about no name beach. From a local, it’s always been called that. The current Crab Bank is a renourishment from some dredge spoils that were lobbied to be deposited onto the remnants of Crab Bank about 6 years ago. Glad to see some vegetation on it now to lock down those spoils for a long time.
I ran the boat out to the north beach side of Kiawah on Saturday, usually not as slammed as Morris, No Name, Capers, or Dewees… usually.

Nice! Ours was a shitty rental out of Shem Creek but we still had a blast. We're leaning toward just renting on weekends when people want to go out and splitting the cost, as opposed to joining a boat club. That's worked well so far. And those boat club memberships keep going up.

All the locals I knew when I lived there called it Crab Bank. One of those locals has a street in Mt. Pleasant named after his grandfather, to demonstrate what I mean by "local".

I can assure you the location he’s referring to (between James and Ft Sumter, not the ebb title delta at the mouth of Shem Creek) was never and has never been called Crab Bank. The buddy you have has about the same local accolades as myself. My family has been in Mt Pleasant for hundreds of years.
Crab Bank has always been the ebb tidal delta at the mouth of Shem Creek.

That's where I thought he was, based on his pics. I guess it's been too long since I've boated out of Shem Creek.

Did we have this discussion the day I was out there and posting beer check ins? Fort Sumter in the near background of the picture is the giveaway.

Ft Sumter is also visible from Crab Bank. It's all in the harbor, and the fort is at the entrance of the harbor. It was difficult to establish scale in your pic.

Ha, I just checked, we did have the exact conversation you had with GasMan.

It does have a name, it's called "Crab Bank".
Posted on 7/26/25 at 1:54 pm to Chucktown_Badger
It used to be a bird sanctuary and you couldn't go out there, but nature took away all the scrub brush and nesting cover so it's just bare sand now, so they don't bother trying to pretend it's a bird sanctuary anymore. If you zoom in on it in Google maps it is labeled.

So what you’re thinking of is right outside Shem and not where we were (Google crab bank Charleston)
Back home after a muddys visit. Awesome awesome day.

I didn't see that last post. That's why we had to have the conversation all over again.

Yes you did. You replied to it.

I see now. You were literally at Ft. Sumter.

Was that before or after I started replying in this thread?

You posted that acknowledgement before posting this in this thread (a few posts up from this one):

Funny thing is you made the same incorrect comment, after being corrected, on the exact same pictures
