Petit Bois and Horn Island water is the same. Ship Island is the same on the eastern edge and gets darker as you move west.

Any rec’s on dinner staying at one of the phoenix’s next week. Family friendly decent atmosphere.
Haven’t been in few years. Last few beach trips have been destin.

Definitely stay on the island as the bridge traffic sucks on the weekends.
The other poster is right that there isn't a lot to do here but with your little ones, not sure what you would do anyways beyond chill

Pensacola, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are closer. I go to Destin several times a year because I have accommodations available to me there. I have no problem with driving the extra 45 minutes or so.
