Wife and I are going in the middle of September this year for two weeks. What are some of the smaller towns in the Tuscany region do yall recommend staying in to indulge in the culture for the best overall experience?

We spent $12k traveling for 2 weeks with another couple in the Dolomites, Lake Gard, Lake Como, Verona, Milan. Rented a car. Stayed in VRBOs/AIRBnBs. This was in July.
Did some tours. Did some cooking but mostly ate out.

Of course this thread would eventually turn into people boasting about how rich they are, because they can afford to spend ridiculous amounts of money.

Our 25th anniversary was during that trip, we paid right at $300 for a night time gondola ride the night of our anniversary. Had just rained about fifteen minutes earlier. Weather was great. Was worth every penny.
We got a private water taxi from Venice airport right to our bed and breakfast, was worth all that we paid and then some.
Every train we took we went executive class.
Listen I know we could have done it cheaper, I don't really care. It was our 25th anniversary and you only get one of those. Coming from a divorced set of parents I value anniversaries and am willing to do anything to celebrate them, especially the big ones.

Lucca, San Gimignano, Volterra are great to stay in while in Tuscany. People during the day but so peaceful at night.
