sounds like you have a good plan. following up on what others have said, the Many Glacier area was my favorite but it's an incredible park. I could have spent a month in the area exploring the park and national forests.
Whitefish is a great Montana mountain town with a good food scene thanks to the rich folks owning homes there. Tupelo Grill was a surprisingly great meal and atmosphere with a southern theme. Abruzzo was another good restaurant but we did not have a bad meal while there last summer.

Great info!

I've also read you DO NOT need a vehicle reservation pass if you have a reservation for one of the lake tours, horseback rides or other activities within the park, you just need to show proof. I would confirm that to make sure.
This also applies to in-park lodging. We stayed each night in a different room (Giant pain in the arse) in the Apgar Village Inn on Lake McDonald. The room reservations got us in with our America The Beautiful card. Activities would have worked as well.

We are going right after you (9/18-9/25). Super excited! We were planning on going in 2020, but COVID messed it up. After 9/9 we won’t need passes luckily.
Please come back and give a rundown after your trip…

Been to Yosemite a half dozen times and Glacier three times (I think?) over the years. This goes back to 1980, so things change over time, mostly the crowds and my physical conditioning. Yosemite is concentrated, tame, spectacular and intimate, especially the valley. Glacier is/was less crowded, more natural, not as spectacular, but very beautiful. Hiking in both is good, but Glacier is better. You can get away from the crowds in Glacier. Both are treasures, but different experiences.

we were in Glacier/Whitefish last summer. Had a great time. The Many Glacier side was less crowded and crazy beautiful. it was definitely our favorite part of the park. Highly recommend staying at Many Glacier Hotel
for at least night.

The drive up to Jasper is quite a distance, but walking and viewing Columbia Ice Fields are worth it. The visitor center has food and coffee usual visitor center items.

Saw my grizzlies on the first day in the park last Friday hiking the Highline Trail (15 miles in 8 hrs.). Absolutely jaw-dropping scenery and also saw big horn sheep, mountain goats, deer and marmots but no moose…yet. This place is like a petting zoo for adults. Glacier NP does not disappoint. I will post more pics when I get the chance.

Polebridge Mercantile is pretty unique. It’s north of Columbia Falls on the western edge of the park.

Finally got around to uploading video of a grizzly sow and her cub while hiking the Highline Trail in Glacier NP on 9/6. It was an incredible hike with tons of wildlife including mountain goats, bighorn sheep, marmots and deer- tons of deer. In the second You Tube video another hiker and his three year old daughter encountered the same grizzly and her cub a week or so ago in the same area we encountered the two a couple of weeks prior. A little too close for comfort!

A guy was recently bitten by a grizzly on the highline trail and luckily some other hikers were near and chased it off with spray. Two years ago my wife and I were alone climbing Mt Siyeh and had a run in with one on a cliff edge. Was it the the most bone chilling experience you’ve ever had? It still haunts me sometimes thinking about how it could have gone.

I read about that hiker who was attacked. He apparently was hiking with an experienced group who all carried (and deployed) their bear spray before he sustained major injuries. They also has a first aid kit and a Garmin In-Reach communication unit and were able to radio and get feedback from park officials on treating his injuries and getting him to the Chalet, where he was airlifted to the hospital in Whitefish.
The grizzlies we saw were just past the spur heading to the Grinnell Glacier Overlook. I was with my nephew and his girlfriend and there was another couple also observing as the bears foraged for about 10 mins before heading the opposite way as we headed towards the Chalet. I never once felt threatened as we were about 30 yds away and they were preoccupied. Coming back from the Chalet we ran into a group of hikers who saw them on the trail but said the bears diverted and they saw them disappear into the brush.

The one we ran into came out of no where. He just appeared on a ledge above us. He heard us sliding around in the skree and locked eyes with us, then came in to investigate what we were. We picked our arms up and started yelling in a deep slow voice. He finally lost interest and ran off. 0/10 would not recommend
