If you can get tickets to a Giants Spring Training game in Old Town Scottsdale and before or after the game (or both) take a stroll thru Old Town. A cool collection of bars/restaurants, shops, art galleries, etc. and some great people-watching. I recommend the Coach House (cool dive bar) and the Rusty Spur (cool country bar). Both are popular with tourists and locals alike.

[embed]Not sure how far you are wanting to drive for hikes, but I'd recommend the Sedona area for really cool scenic views. In particular the West fork trail of Oak creek canyon just north of Sedona should be gorgeous during October with the leaves having changed color. The west fork trail would be my #1 suggestion for hikes around the area, but there are several around Sedona that are really cool.

Good call on Sedona hiking and the West Fork Trail is a must. Get there early as the parking lot fills up quicky.

Congrats! I'm at the earliest two years out or until the company pushes me out the door. My house is going on the market this weekend and I am downsizing significantly. Bought current home in 2005 and it has doubled in value so I will be pocketing a nice chunk and paying cash for a home half this size so no mortgage for the first time in 35 years. Bought an Airstream and starting this summer will be escaping the brutal Arizona summers, hopefully for good. Thanks to Elon Musk and Starlink I will be able to work while on the road until retirement. Hitting all of the major national parks in the Rocky Mountain states this summer in addition to WI, MI, the UP, MN, Sturgis, SD and MT. Next summer is the PCH/Yosemite NP north to OR, WA, CN (Alberta, BC and the Yukon) and ending in Alaska. Future trips are to New England/Nova Scotia, Great Smokey Mountains NP and Key West. Fall/winter I will remain in Arizona, the best time of year here. Can't wait.
Robert Crane (Col. Hogan from "Hogan's Heroes) was murdered in Scottsdale and Jody Arias murdered the guy at his home in Mesa although she lived in Phoenix so close enough.

Somehow I’m reminded of Matt Flynn making an arse ton of money due to being Rodgers’ backup.

Flynn basically got paid based on one game where Rodgers sat the last game of the year due to the Packers clinching the #1 seed in the NFC. Flynn started and threw for 480 yds and six TD's vs Detroit. He was suddenly in high demand and Seattle took the bait.

I was shocked, but at the same time I would want to see furniture in the house (real stuff not virtual) to get an idea of spatial elements.

I just had my home professionally staged last week for that exact reason (the realtor split the cost 50/50). The changes made were stunning, it doesn't even look like the same house. I've lived in the house 21 yrs and time to downsize so I sold almost everything at an estate sale in October and had completely empty rooms and I kept just the essentials. Everything I've read said empty homes don't show well so I decided to stage and haven't regretted it. Even friends couldn't believe the changes, all for the better. Videos and pics for the MLS listining were taken last Monday and the photographer said they will even be able to simulate a fire in the fireplace if I wanted. The attached video is my first impression post-staging after walking in the front door. Home goes on the market this weekend, wish me luck!

USC is in Watts

Technically Watts (and Compton) are about 20 mins south of the USC campus and the campus is directly adjacent to Skid Row.

A friend was an agent for NFL players and coaches (including Mike Mularkey & Ken Whisenhunt) and he told me once that Roethlisberger was a bad combination of being arrogant and stupid and he stated that before the two sexual assault allegations.
This guy, Scott Ford, a good friend of mine, Shot twice in Afghanistan- in the chest and triceps- they wanted to amputate his arm and he talked them out of it. He’s definitely a badass and a hero in my eyes.

I've looked at a few properties in that price range with a house on it and the realtor tried to show me the house and I said that I didn't need to see the house because if I bought the property. the first thing I'd send over would be a bulldozer

My realtor suggested the same could possibly happen with whoever buys my house. A house three doors down sold two months ago and has been completely gutted with work crews there since it closed. A neighbor said the gal who bought it is in her 30's with and it will be her and her six kids!

irrelevant but thanks for letting us know

A handful of posters, including the one replying right above my post- referenced the value of the home possibly determining whether to professionally stage or not. Don't be a pissy bitch.

Declutter and then keep only the furniture to a minimum - even if it means getting a couch or comfy chair or two into a storage unit. Less furniture means more open space for the viewer to encounter and thus a potential buyer is less likely to feel cramped or claustrophobic.

This is where I'm at currently. I've been here almost 21 yrs in 4,000 sq ft house and had accumulated a ton of stuff. Sold most of the house furniture, tools, a pool table and patio furniture at an estate sale in September and now left with the bare minimum and a few of the rooms are completely empty. The furniture I got rid of was dated as were most of the prints on the wall and decorative stuff. I now realize my house was over-decorated and over-furnished.

House to be listed at approx $1.6 million.
I should have clarified- my realtor was suggesting having a staging company coming in with furniture, lights, a fresh coat of paint, etc.- not me staging it myself. And based on what I have found researching on the internet those services are not cheap but reading some of the replies it's worth the expense. My home would fall in the "mid-luxury market" in Scottsdale and if it helps me get top dollar in a somewhat buyers' market it may be worth it.

Is staging a house worth it?

I'm preparing to put my home on the market and my realtor is suggesting having my home staged for the listing pics and showings. I have decluttered to the point where I have completely empty rooms and he suggests having most of the rooms staged will increase interest and curb appeal. Looking for feedback from anyone who has done it and was it worth it? Thanks in advance!
