The wife wants to go to Ireland for our 20th anniversary. Anyone have good recommendations on travel? Flights? Hotels? Must see places? Going to spend about a week or 10 days

Just completed a week there. Did Dingle, Galway, Killarney, and Dublin. I rank them 1-4 in that order.

Dublin wasn’t my favorite, but I’d be willing to go back and give it another shot.

Highly recommend the Cliffs of Moher (as everyone else will) as well as Killarney National Park. We had a great meal at Aniar in Galway, check out their menu.

Edit: driving was unpleasant the first day, but you get used to it.

This. Cliffs of Moher are beautiful but much of that coasts looks similar. We saw several cliffs that were just as big minus all the traffic and tourists. Really enjoyed Dingle. I also saw southern Ireland. Cobh is a cool town. Kinsale was cool too. Seeing the seafood shops was neat. Great pubs down there too. Each town how their own version of chowder. Galway is a beautiful city as well. Just a little hike. Killarney is pretty. Toured the muckross house there.

There is a good number of day trips out of Dublin, we chose one that went into Northern Ireland, went to the Giant's Causeway, a castle, then to Belfast. Dropped us back off at our hotel 11 hours later.

check out Trinity College

The best thing about traveling back from Ireland is that they do Customs before you board the plane.

Take note of Anita’s ranking. Dublin isn’t really Ireland.

Rock of cashel. Black Abbey (watch out for unexpected sheep on the road.) Stop in little places that are barely on your map, everyone wants to talk. I spent multiple days in Roscommon on accident because people just kept inviting me to lunch etc. I went in shoulder season in 2/3 week of May both times.

Drive the ring of Kerry backwards, it seems to help minimize interference from tour coaches.

Shannon does that, it’s where most US troops transit through. Never flown into or out of Dublin, but flying into Shannon, sit on the left side of the plane, and look at the amazing green.

Do check out Trinity College in Dublin. The school has student-lead tours. Don't expect to see the library great hall as pictured. Unfortunately, it's undergoing a multi-year renovation to improve fire safety and most books are off being cleaned. You can still visit the room.

Don't skip Dublin completely. It's crowded and too busy, but it has some great museums. The National Archeology Museum has some spectacular artifacts ranging from gold collars to bog mummies.

Did Dingle

Went to the Dingle food festival and had a blast. Also stayed in Tralee. Loved Southern Ireland.
