I know there are a few posters here who live in Europe.

I work for an US airline, have a layover in Mainz Tuesday. Talked to a few others who have been there the last few days and said the “lockdown” isn’t nearly as terrible as the news makes it out to be.

Regardless I am fine with just walking around seeing some cool shite. Any recommendations for things I can see on foot? Staying right by the main square area. Thanks y’all. We are exempt from their quarantine rule etc.

If it’s open: Gutenberg museum - kind of interesting.

Ask the desk clerk at your hotel where he/she goes for Schnitzel und spatzle - not hotel, but real family restaurant.

Have an Eichbaum bier if you can find it.

Visit the castle.

Walk along Augustinerstrasse.

I don’t live there... been there many times when I used to live in Germany years ago.

Thank y’all for the info! Mainly just looking to walk around for some fresh air, and grab a bite to take and eat in my hotel room. Should be okay for that I think.

I would imagine the Christmas Markets are open right now all over Germany. If so, that would definitely give you something to do.

I’m here now. Unfortunately the Christmas markets are a no go this year. Still plenty of folks out and about, though. And just like the US half the people don’t give a shite about the mask lmao
