Thinking about going next year. Anyone on the board been? Safe trip for a solo gringo who speaks some Spanish?

Thanks!

Mexico City is amazing and at no point did I feel unsafe.

My understanding is it is not like the Bond film but now they want to make it like that because it looked so cool.

For Day of the Dead festivities I'd lean towards Guadalajara (Tlaquepaque) or Oaxaca City, but Mexico City is a great trip no matter if Day of the Dead is happening or not.
