My understanding is it is not like the Bond film but now they want to make it like that because it looked so cool.

For Day of the Dead festivities I'd lean towards Guadalajara (Tlaquepaque) or Oaxaca City, but Mexico City is a great trip no matter if Day of the Dead is happening or not.

Have not personally gone yet, but heard Oaxaca City is best for this by others that travel latin America alot.
