Leaving next Wednesday, flying in to Boston. Taking the Downeaster to Portland. Renting a car and driving the Kanc then down through NH back to Boston. All while buying/drinking as much NE beer I can fit in my suitcase. Oh and going see Hall and Oates in Boston. Can't fricking wait.
Well then let me prematurely welcome you to Boston.
If you have questions about the city or which breweries to hit up around NE, feel free to shoot me an e-mail or post in this thread. Didn't know Hall and Oates were playing Boston. Fenway?

Next Saturday at the Garden.
I've already spoke with you via email. Thanks again for the help!
I'll be at the Trillium Beer Garden if you need me.

:lol;
Sorry mate I forget who's emailed me and who hasn't.
The trillium beer garden is fantastic. Went the weekend it opened - enjoy! Fair warning, you can't get cans or growlers there, but you're a close walk to their original location so if you need to stock up you still can.

How realistic is it to rent a car in Boston and trip down to Cape Cod?
We are talking next month. Is it a massive beating or doable?
If it's doable any recommendations along the way or in the Cape?

Again, it's doable - about a 3 hour car ride depending on traffic and where specifically in the Cape you're going. But I highly would encourage staying overnight if you're going to go. You're just not going to have a lot of time to actually explore the Cape and do anything worthwhile in one day, especially when you have to spend six hours in the car.
If you're looking to go to the beach, there are plenty of great beaches that are a much shorter driving distance away. Look into Plum Island in Newburyport. It's about a 40 minute drive from Boston and the beach is fantastic - that's where we always go when we want to hit up the beach.
Cliffnotes - don't go to the Cape unless you're able to spend more than a day there.

This. Day trips to the cape are MISERABLE. You'll spend most of the day in the car. That said, if you can spend a couple of days, I'd HIGHLY recommend going out to P-Town for a couple of days. It's a weird town, but it's a lot of fun.
If you're looking to stay along the coast, Newburyport, Portsmouth, and Kittery are all really cool towns with a lot of cool restaurants, decent music and a microbreweries.
If you want to go a bit more inland, check out the kancamagus highway in New Hampshire. It's a beautiful drive with a lot of places for camping, hiking, biking, and fly fishing (if you're into that kinda thing).

Allen Stone (a current favorite of mine) is opening for them... I'm missing so many goddamn shows this summer.
Have fun, I'm jealous I'm missing most of the New England summer...

Ok, reaady to book Boston for next month but had a question on hotels.
Downtown is NUTS on price. nothing under $300 and im not paying that when we will barely be spending time there.
Im looking outside of downtown and found a really nice Aloft on D Street in Seaport. Is that an ok place to stay?
We plan to be out all day and do the touristy stuff so dont want to be too far.

The Seaport is a really nice area.
Downside is there's not a T stop nearby, so you're walking a lot or taking Ubers more than you would if you were near a train station.

Like AF mentioned, Seaport is really nice. But you're pretty removed from the "touristy" areas and there isn't a T stop nearby.
That said, if you don't mind spending $10-$15 each way on an Uber when you want to go downtown/North End, staying in Seaport would be pretty legit, especially this time of year.
If you're looking to save a little cash, look into AirBnbs in the peripheral neighborhoods (Cambridge, East Boston, Brookline, Allston, Somerville, etc.). As long as you're close to a T stop, access to downtown is easy and there are actually some really nice places.
My apartment is in Eastie and it takes me about 20 mins on the T to get to downtown.
Enjoy your trip, man.
And have a beer in Trillium's new beer garden in the Rose Kennedy Greenway. It just opened and I've heard great things.
