Traveling to England for work in October and the wife will be going with me. She wants to hop over to Norway for a few days before we come home.

Any recommendations as far as cities to visit?

Interested in this as well. I may be going in October as well.

Recommendations on cities and attractions to see or avoid?

I presume the entire country is extremely safe.

How’s the food, bars and nightlife?

How are residents? I’ve heard they are naturally standoffish or inquisitive of tourists?

The residents for the most part are fine.

These questions about safety always make me laugh. Pretty much every country that's asked about on this forum are at least as safe as the USA.

Attractions are hit or miss depending on the weather. No matter the season there's always a chance for cooler weather that you want along with rain and a very low cloud ceiling at times. The epic viewpoints are hit or miss. It's a matter of luck.

It's been a number of years since I've been to Norway but Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo is a must see. The highlight of the trip was the 6 hour train trip to Bergen, the most scenic train ride I've ever been on. You basically are going through mountains the entire way. Bergen is a really nice town on the water and there is a touristy day trip called "Norway in a Nutshell" that involves a boat ride through fjords to a little village on the edge of a fjord and then you get on a train that goes up a mountain out of the fjord. Its a really nice trip.

What we wanted to see.

What we saw.

It’s hit or miss with the weather.

Preikestolen. If you can get out there, it's about a 90 minute hike up to it. Utterly incredible. We used Stavanger as a jumping off point for it.
