It’s also a family tradition to eat at Columbia. Start off with a pitcher of sangria and make sure to get a 1905 salad. The pompano there is also good.

+1 We were very happy with the pitcher of Mojito. Supposed to be the origination of the Cuban sandwich, and it was delicious.

Tini Martini was BS - horribly slow service and overpriced mixed drinks.

Our favorite drinking spot was 100% the No Name Bar.

What happened to Scarlett O'Hara's? I don't remember the food being great, but the atmosphere was good and I had some good times drinking there.

Was it a Covid casualty?

It closed overnight a few days before we arrived last year right after 4th of July.

The landlord said the "couldn't come to terms on the lease renewal"

The bar owner said "they struggled finding employees post-Covid"

Several of the bartenders at No Name (who worked at Scarlet's) told us the landlord of the Scarlett's building tried to pull a fast one on them. When the lease was up, they tried to take over the bar and keep the name.

Thanks for the info.

What is it now? Even if they couldn't keep the name, it's a cool place that someone could utilize.

Got it. I thought you might live in the area.

I'm down in Port St. Lucie. I've been in Oregon and Indiana the last 10 years, so I haven't been to St Augie since 2019.

Wanted to add we enjoy Harry’s which is a “New Orelans”‘style restaurant in a great location across from A1A ale works near the bridge of lions.

However, I’m the only one in my family that lived in Louisiana and the food is passable but if you are a native skip it and let the Yankees in line go.

Jacksonville is the largest city in America, by land mass, so you may want to be more specific as to what area you'll be in.

Having said that, It's been a long time since I've lived in Jacksonville, so I'm not the guy to give you the hot spots right now.

I was going to recommend Clark's Fish Camp, but it closed. Their are dozens of fish camps all throughout the area that serve seafood and cold beer. Some are nice, some are a little rough. Clark's was truly unique and I'm sorry to see that it closed. There are others, like Whitey's Fish Camp on Fleming Island, which used to be a favorite hang out of Ronnie Van Zant (RIP). I used to live about 2 miles from it.

Head up US 1 north or take 95 North to 295 N all these are on the way to the airport. Hit this place up you won't regret it. It doesn't look like much but the food is incredible

Fast Eddy's

Eta: read the reviews its all 5 stars

It isn't. It used to be the largest in the lower 48, but somewhere in kansas merged with their county... like jax and Duval consolidation 60 years ago. It's number 6 by just land, 5th if land and water is factored in. Regardless, 750/875 square miles is still f'ing ginormous, and side of town is important.

Take the Flagler College tour. Amazing architecture. My favorite thing there but the St. Augustine Distillery tour was fun too. I’d recommend Columbia for dinner. Get reservations.
