We slept out there 1 night last summer.

They brought this caboose out here in the 1970s. Any Gourds fans here? They recorded their first 2 albums in the caboose.

So where exactly is this place? Looks great.

We are trying to decide to go to Texas or back to Florida for this year’s vacation

Meanwhile, in the city, we had some pizza and beer at Pinthouse tonight.

We need to get back out to F'burg...it's been too long.

Enjoy your weekend!

Pretty much. Drove down today, 5 hour drive. Went for a little hike and sat at the top of a hill and drank a couple of beers. We will mosey over to Comfort tomorrow and hit a nature preserve then eat at Highs Cafe. I'm trying to convince Ms Zappa to stop at a brew pub but she doesn't want to go where it's crowded. Fair enough, this trip is all about relaxing. We get to come down here a couple times a year so nothing we feel an urgency to see or do. Gonna stay in a couple of other airbnb on this trip.

Went for a little birding hike at Joshua Creek Park outside comfort. It's a nice little county park but nothing spectacular. Ms Zappa wanted to since they have birding blinds.

Afterwords we went into Comfort and needed gas. Had to go to 4 stations before finding one that had gas, crazy.

Went to Highs Cafe for some beer and food. Great spot.

We tried Comfort Pizza first but you have to reserve your dough the day before. We knew that but worth a try.

After Highs we walked a 100 yards down a gravel path to Hill Country Distillery. There is a winery right there too with a band playing outside... Not a good band but good enough. I had a prickly Pear spirit aged in bourbon barrels. Not bad. The Distillery has a cool old bar inside...

After that we had had enough of the big city so headed back to the ranch.

We went on our daily hike up the hill and along the Ridge overlooking the property.

Of course we took some beers with us.

Ran into some angora sheep up there.

Pretty nice sunset

Crossing Block Creek on the way back to the cabin.

It's a great part of the country. Lots of little back roads that wind around to little towns. Went through the town of Waring today and Welfare. Had never heard of either and I come down here regularly.
