re: Honeymoon Recommendations

Posted by geaux4a on 4/22/26 at 10:11 am to
I would highly recommend looking at what Costco travel has to offer. We booked our Honeymoon through them and paid significantly less than we would have going directly through the resort. We went to St. Lucia and had an incredible trip, would highly recommend going there.

Also would very strongly suggest waiting a week (or at least a few days) after the wedding to leave on your trip. You'll both be exhausted and will be happy to have a few days to get settled after the big day.

Oh if you've already done all of the stops I'd definitely go the ferry route. We took a group boat that left out of the harbor (I think on Tuesday, as that was the day the cruises come in to St. John). We had plenty of time at Soggy Dollar and Foxy's then came back to the boat. Be sure to bring lots of cash the duty fees are cash only and I remember them being pretty high... trying to remember but I feel like it was around $100 for my wife and I. Look into that, I really can't remember specifically.

As to the Jeep we flew in to St. Thomas and rented there. It was significantly less expensive and we were able to get all of our groceries on St. Thomas which was also much less expensive than on St. John. Discount Car Rental was the place we rented from, we liked them but if you can find somewhere else that's a better deal I'd just go with them.

Also one last thing- we went into the spice/ coffee store on the second floor of the main down town building across from where you rent the snorkel gear (across the street from slim man's parking lot near the beach bar). We really liked that store, and the person working there gave us a ton of great tips we enjoyed the whole week. I'd say go check it out earlier in the week and see what they recommend for your open nights.

Hitting Skinny Legs and Windmill Bar are great. As someone else said already, we also did a big dinner at La Tapa for a friends birthday which was excellent.

We enjoyed snorkeling at Cinnamon Bay (go to the right once you get on the beach) and Maho Bay. Lime out was a lot of fun over on the Skinny Legs side of the Island. We brought a lot of frozen steaks and stuff with us in a backpack cooler and ended up cooking at the house a lot.

I'm reaching out to my friend who scheduled our charter to Jost and will edit this if/ when I hear back.

Also going through our pictures and feeling the pull to go back, I hope you have a great trip!

ETA: Our charter was On the Sea Charters. He was great. I think we did 8 hours and were able to hit the baths, Willie T's, the aquarium (snorkeling), and Jost.

Good question, I don't know but I'm hoping they change.

Every single thing I've ever had there has been excellent. The best. Just sucks they are only open Thursdays and Fridays for Lunch. They will be at Hogs and will be my first stop!
How this has so many down votes is insane. Super witch is ridiculously good
Heading to Scotland around the same time, following to get tips as well. Hope you enjoy your trip!
But but but if we don't give EVERY OTHER COUNTRY MONEY how will they get by? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Edited because apparently we can only use the same Emoticon three times in a row before it just says ":banghead:" :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
You made the point yourself... Americans who would do this work are lazy, and are because they have all the entitlement programs supporting them. Reducing the entitlements would make more Americans find jobs. Employers will find a wage these people are willing to work for, and we will have more Americans employed and less people living on welfare.

Feliciana in Downtown Covington opened last month and should hit all you're looking for!

 I appreciate the tip! Really only make it down that way for Pizza D, N7, and Bacchanal. My wife drags me down there for Mardi Gras Day every year, but when the sun starts going down I start leaving.

Welcome to New Orleans!

Uptown: Zee's
Metairie: Il Supremo
Downtown/ close enough to still call it downtown: St Pizza, Forbidden

Pizza Delicious is great too, but its down in the Marigny (or bywater... idk the difference).

In order best for me are:

Il supremo>Zee's> Pizza D> Forbidden> St Pizza.

They are all very good, enjoy!
We've been to Stowe, VT a few times and have always really enjoyed it. Great restaurants, a really nice little downtown area to shop, get coffee, etc. We also really enjoyed the Von Trapp Family brewery which is very close (within 15 minutes). They have a nice tap room with good food and a great outdoor space to enjoy the weather.

Leaf peeping is really amazing there as well. Highly recommend.
Rogan said something very similar to this when he talked with Bert Kreischer last week. If interested start listening around the 1 hr 43 minute mark for a few minutes. The conversation jumps pretty quickly from this to NSFW stuff just fyi.

Everyone has their own opinion but Crescent City food has disappointed every time I've been over the last ten years. Charlies always crushes it for us.
He will enjoy it! A few years ago they did a collab with Mister Mao and did a butter chicken pizza. Still think about it all the time... hopefully they run it back again.

Either way the Red top, add pepperoni is my go to. Also recommend the Mediterranean salad, its really impressive.
Good list, Zee's is definitely the best of those three, but all are good.

Zee's> Nola> Saint

Il supremo is in Metairie but just want to call it out, they and Zee's are the best in the city.

Didn't realize how popular Stars were until I read through this thread.

Angel for my tree.

I got some on Amazon that I like a lot. Pretty clear sound and good noise cancellation, and they're decently inexpensive.
