best WR room in the country.

Do we really? I mean I expect each returning & incoming transfer to improve at least somewhat, but unless someone takes a MAJOR leap it’s hard for me to think we’re the best on paper. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not claiming to have watched each incoming WRs teams & games closely last season, but the best is a big claim. Would love to be proven wrong on that though

Much of Highland Road traffic is Prairieville residents. They travel down Hwy 42, right on Airline, then either turn on Old Perkins or Highland to get to the interstate.
I don't see how a Pecue exit is going to help with that source of traffic.

I mean it may not be a great difference, but obviously an extra avenue & route to choose from will help to some degree.

quote:

Spanish Lake is on the other side of I-10.
There is nearly nothing between the interstate and the Jefferson/Airline intersection.
They could even run a road from Henry Road/Airline out to the interstate.

West (Bluff) side of the interstate doesn't have an ideal location for exit/entrance ramps. Bluff road is only 2 lane and not currently built to handle much more traffic. Intersections at C.Braud, and 74 are busy as is, let alone C.Braud at 73, and 73 at 74 light, so something does need to be done.
Making 73 four lane from the 74 (Harvest) light intersection back to Hwy 30 NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Plant & school traffic suck.
I-10 east bound traffic exit to highland gets backed up so it sure could use another exit between there and 73/Prairieville, which is 6.3 miles.
The light at Old Perkins/Bluff gets backed up. I've seen plans for a round about there, but no idea when that may happen. Hell adding right turning lane at the light cutting into the corner of the church's large property would work wonders!

Henry Rd extension seems doable for east side, but they may have to do just a west bound exit like Drusilla on I-12, which would not help east bound highland exit unless they design a left hand exit for the east bound side.

Knowingly paying a WR2 the money a WR1 should get is going to hamper the Saints ability to find a WR1

Have you seen the Tee Higgins contract? Garrett Wilson’s stats and contract?

Have you seen the current state of their respective teams?

Higgins 4yr/$115M ($28.7M/avg) with $40.9M guaranteed. Paid & utilized as WR1(b) while paying Chase 4yr/$161M ($40.25M/avg) with $112M guaranteed

Wilson 4yr/$130M ($32.5M/avg) with $90M guaranteed. Paid & utilized as their WR1

Average of 1st 4 years in NFL stats;
CO: 72rec / 932yrd / 4.7TD
TH: 64rec / 921yrd / 6TD
GW: 78rec / 911yrd / 4.5TD

Stats alone suggest he'll be in line with Wilson around 4yr/$130M ($32.5M/avg)

Olave had another really good year, but it ended with a blood clot which is extremely unfortunate for him and I honestly hate that for him because that's not play related but can still negatively affect him. I've softened my stance some on him some, because he does get open a lot and catches a bunch of balls, but Saints have to seriously deep dive into a cost-benefit analysis of paying him $30+ since he is not a clutch time game game changer type player.

In terms of taking the Jets approach, Unless we hit on big time WR in draft and/or Vele takes a big step up (since both would be cheap the next couple seasons) then I believe paying Olave $30M would handicap us leaving us in a similar situations as 24 & 25 with no true WR1 and not enough money to afford adding a higher end WR in free agency

In terms of taking the Bengals approach, we don't have the money anytime soon to pay WR1a & WR1b money at the same time. Also serious question as I don't know off-hand, but how many teams that made the playoffs or better yet are still in the playoffs are paying near MSRP contracts for both WR1 & WR2???

Not trying to overhype this but this dude shouldn’t be able to move like this at 6’5. He’s oozing potential

Those are just practice, but damn that's some really good highlights lol. Hope it translates to gameday

More of a roster than depth chart, but thanks. Maybe split up DT/DE and C/G/T?

I think wanting a WR at 8 is a little short sighted. Vele, Olave, and JJ all looked great with Shough

I've not watched enough of any of the top WRs to declare them true #1WR or not, but for the sake of this conversation lets say Tyson indeed is.

Olave is currently only under contract for 2026, so drafting a potential replacement and possible upgrade is not short sighted. Olave had a very good year, and I think he could benefit from having a true #1WR in 2026. I still don't know if signing him to an extension beyond 2026 at $25+M after multiple concussions and now a blood clot is the best move for the Saints.

quote:

We HAVE to protect Shough. You win in the trenches

Agreed!

G / WR / CB / DT are our top 4 needs, all with significant, immediate impact potential.
We need to sign in FA at least (2) of bona fide starters of those positions (preferably G / WR) so that we don't draft for need at #8 and potentially reach.
quote:

Fuaga was not good at RT this year. I know he was injured part of the season, but he wasn’t good at the beginning of the season either.

He was injured basically from the beginning. He was a stud as a rookie at LT, no reason to think he cannot play RT especially since playing RT in college is what got him drafted in the 1st rd. Nobody should be purposely looking to move Fuaga.

That said I'm not against moving OL to new positions if the situation presents itself, like our our interior line showed this year.

Re-sign Fortner, he's plug & play starter IOL! Moore, Nussmeier and OL Coach Brendan Nugent should evaluate Fortner & McCoy and determine which to put at C or G. That solidifies 4/5 starting OL spots before going outside our own building.

Sign a higher end starter at G in free agency to replace Ruiz.
Look to draft a C/G in the 2nd/3rd/4th or sign another decent one in FA to have quality depth for inevitable injuries to our interior OL.
quote:

Going back to Shaheed and just how much being in Seattle may have tanked his value, he played 9 games for both teams (started 9 for us and 4 for Seattle). This was his stats at each:

Saints
66 targets, 44 catches, 499 yards receiving, and 2 tds

Seahawks
26 targets, 15 catches, 188 yards receiving

Those stats certainly don't look good, but keep in mind that is a WR jumping mid-season to new team learning a new playbook, language, and developing a rapport & timing with a new QB. Not saying if he re-signs with Seattle that his stats will necessarily be better than they were with the Saints, just putting into context. Vele was injured but even still it took several games to find his rhythm.
quote:

My biggest concern is drafting a WR at #8 with Olave still on the roster. If you take WR at #8 you can't keep Olave. The only way you stomach paying Olave +25mil

Well we are not paying Olave $25M next season.

With the way this team is playing we can be in the playoff hunt next season meaning we can draft for both 2026 season, and beyond.
Estime has looked great the last 2 weeks, but that’s 2 different 3rd/4th & shirts where he stutter steps in the backfield killing his momentum. On those short downs the defense knows it’s an inside run you don’t have the luxury of time to be patient and wait for a gap to open. You have to hit it full steam even if it’s the back of your o-line.

That’s one spot he can work to improve. Outside of that I’m impressed with his vision, shiftiness & pass blocking

re: Chase Young haters

Posted by Doug_H on 1/4/26 at 2:15 pm to
He needs to tighten up on discipline in setting the edge on runs, he made that mistake a lot earlier this season but not so much lately.
Pass rush there’s been a few where after his initial speed failed he then stalled & basically switched to containment instead of perusing a sack. But every DE does that time ti time, even Cam.

He also has given tremendous effort on a ton of plays this season, against pass & the run. He’s also taking a good bit of chips/double teams as well.

He’s been a very good player for us this season, still has room for improvement, and he’s young enough to be able to improve
quote:

Shough is fricking good man. That misfire aside, he scans the field so fast

Bit of a misfire, but also Austin slowed up to stay in the zone instead of continuing his route over the middle past that backer & that’s where Shough threw it to.
He had good size just didn’t have the base strength to be stout enough against the run, at least during his time with us. Good on him for figuring it out & playing in the league this long
I actually want to see Samari Toure play. He high points the ball well & has knack for big catches.

when I pull the cord, lift it half way it falls down to about 4 inches off the ground and won’t go any further.

Had a similar issue before. Check the 2 gear knobs on the overhead motor. Mine got out of whack after a power outage and having to manually open. Basically they were out of calibration and it just took patience, tweaking them and opening/closing multiple times to get right
I noticed Demario off the field & on the sidelines our last few defensive series, I’m assuming he was hurt?

Way more science behind this than the stupid cuck cap

Guardian caps are at least a cushion material that absorb some of the blow. I’ve never understood the NFL not getting away from the hard helmets we know that are used as weapons.

I’m 40, I played football, I love big hits and the sounds they make, but a head gear that softens the impact only seems logical, to me.
