One is reading scripture that is from God, which by the way is exactly what this nation and every nation needs regardless of who reads it. Humble ourselves and call on Jesus.
The other has put himself in the place of the one that has already come, and defeated sin, and is still alive.
The Old Testament is filled with representations of the one to come and they all failed on their end of the covenant until Jesus. We no longer need a representation to stand in the gap for us, we have access.

We are in right standing with God because of what Jesus did, if you are anyone else believes you work your way to right standing, then Jesus died in vain.
Salvation happens the minute you ask forgiveness for your sins and believe Jesus died for your sins. Sanctification is a continuous work in your life by now becoming in Christ. Believing in Jesus and what he did at the
cross is how both salvation and sanctification is achieved.
Romans 6-8 clearly explains this.
It is not I, but Christ that lives in me that puts me in right standing legally with God.
