Man I'm really rooting hard for Noah. All I see on Twitter from Bama fans is stuff like "He's god awful", "Waste of a scholarship" and whatnot. And I'm sure he has to read all that. I hope it doesn't discourage him or make him loathe his time at Alabama.
Not saying anybody on here shouldn't make comments about him or anything. I'm not trying to be the moral authority. I mean is he difference maker? No, definitely not. I think we all realize that. But as long as he's playing with effort, I'm going to try to remain positive about him and hope that he surprises us all.

We win that Purdue game with a healthy Bristow. He's the rebounding menace that we desperately need. He's so active.

Would love to get Omoruyi. A rotation of him & Sherrell at the 5 spot would be a massive upgrade over Pringle & Wague. We all know how much our frontcourt was an Achilles heel for us. I have no doubt that Oats will find a way to address that. Omoruyi would change our outlook immediately.
Now in my Alabama Basketball Fantasy Land, the guy I'm holding out hope for is Ryan Kalkbrenner. He still has a covid year left, and hasn't decided about using it or going pro. He's not super high on most mock drafts, and maybe he'll feel like he's done all he can do at Creighton. He's worked a bit on his 3 point shooting game, but we could certainly help him improve there. And he shores up every weakness we have around the basket. Adding Kalkbrenner & bringing Sears back would instantly make us the National Title favorites imo.
That's just a pipe dream though. I have know idea what his future intentions are. He probably won't transfer if he comes back, and he'd require a substantial NIL deal if he did. But if we were ever going to get into the tampering game with this new portal, I'd love to have someone in his ear right now.

Link? What’s the average NET for their conference schedule?
I couldn't find a good link for this, so I did this myself using a calculator and basic math. All decimals rounded down.
Average CSOS based on NET
Alabama - 62
Tennessee - 72
Average NET of conference opponents played twice (5 teams)
Alabama - 33
Tennessee - 69
Average NET of only AWAY games played in conf (9 games)
Alabama - 63
Tennessee - 83
LewEvansFan is welcome to double check my work, or provide his own link to whatever facts he gathered on the subject. I'm just here to post some numbers.

Still waiting on you show us where you are getting your "facts" from on the head-to-head record for Pearl vs Oats. You started an idiotic thread a while back that stated Pearl lead the series at 5-3. Completely untrue. You stated again tonight on your own board that it was now tied at 5-5. Again, completely untrue.
This is Nate Oats fourth season as the Alabama coach. Auburn & Alabama play each other twice every year. Auburn & Alabama have not faced each other in the SEC tournament while Oats has been the head coach at Bama. Nor did Auburn ever face Buffalo while Oats was the head coach there for 4 seasons. So by simple math, we can all agree that Oats & Peal have coached against each other 8 times now, right?
Nate Oats now has a 5-3 advantage over Pearl. Despite your attempts to provide misinformation, those are the stats.
And additionally, Bruce Pearl has never had a winning record against a Nate Oats lead Bama team. Never. He lost the first game they matched up against each other. Pearl has tied the series at .500 multiple times now, but never has pulled ahead by even one game.
Would love for you to show anything that disproves what I've posted.

More big news. Kobe Brown is out tonight.
I was just thinking that myself. They have Jarace Walker falling all the way down to 22. That seems crazy to me.

I'm still amazed at how good Mark Sears has been. We all wanted him & knew he could play, but damn I didn't think he'd be THIS good. I had tempered my expectations from all the previous small-school & juco transfers that we've brought in and them be so underwhelming (Michael Kessens, Ricky Tarrent, James Rojas, and so on). But he's been everything as advertised and then some. I thought he might struggle with the jump in the competition level in the SEC, but it's been the opposite. Having more talent around him has elevated his abilities from when he was at Ohio. He's damn near, if not already, a first team All-SEC caliber guard. Just an absolute grand slam of a transfer addition.
Nevermind. Didn't go back far enough in the thread.
Does anybody know anything about why Darius Miles was not with the team tonight? Never even saw him on the bench in street clothes or anything.

I hope our game doesn't end up starting on ESPN News because of the Egg Bowl.
Keon Ellis had a nice game for the Kings summer league team.

Keon Ellis, Sacramento Kings
In Sacramento’s 81-64 win over the Heat, Ellis finished with a team-leading 17 points while shooting 6-for-8 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. But the Kings were more pleased with his work on the other end.
“What’s most impressive about Keon is his defense,” said Kings summer-league coach Jordi Fernandez. “He guards really hard, keeps his body in front of bodies and is long. He has a good feel for not getting hit on screens.”
Makes sense. The Kings signed Ellis to a two-way contract after he landed on the SEC’s All-Defensive Team during his senior season at the University of Alabama.

Do we have an insight or any strong feelings one way or the other about what Shack is going to do? I think the general consensus is that JD is likely to be gone, but what about Shack? Some of what I would look for out of a portal guard would be predicated on whether he is back or not. If he's gone I'd be okay with bringing a more diminutive guard, if he's a true pg that can run an offensive. Like a Mark Sears. If Shack were to return, another big point guard would be great addition to help hide Shack's defensive liabilities.
I just don't want to have some of the same problems we had this past year, where we're too small on the perimeter and can't guard teams with bigger backcourts. Obviously you don't turn a guy like Shack away if he really wants to finish his college career with us. But if he's out of the fold, it kind of free's us up to look for any kind of guard to fit what we do, since Bradley would actually be our smallest player on the roster. And with his wingspan & athleticism, it doesn't appear like he should have many limitations defensively.

It was after the A&M game. He went out in a blaze of glory. I thought he would resurface with an alter. Maybe he has and it's just went unnoticed, but idk.

Is this still a basketball thread? Talking about Mac vs Brice for starting qb likely should go on last year's football thread.
It didn't have anything to do with Mac vs Bryce. It was about calling out a specific troll who constantly fills up the Bama boards with bad hot takes (to put it kindly). I apologize for the inconvenience though. I'll go back to patiently waiting for Chad's basketball updates now.

I appreciate your informative response, but the jackass you're responding to thinks Herb is mentally retarded and wanted Alabama to fire Saban. So you might as well be trying to explain quantum physics to a chimpanzee.
This is also the same guy who derailed every football thread talking about how terrible Mac Jones was and that Bryce should start over him as true freshman in the 2020 season. He just spews out a bunch of shite, then he thinks (or hopes) nobody remembers his jackassery. But pepperidge farm remembers.
quote:
I want to see Bryce as the starter. If you start Mac, Bryce is gone, and you just don’t let that happen.
quote:
Anybody who is in Mac’s corner, it feels like you’re here just to start an argument?
Watch the film, listen to every expert..Mac Jones isn’t even in the same area code talent-wise as Bryce Young. Saban made a monumental mistake starting Hurts over Tua, and it cost us 14 games we never got to witness with our schools GOAT QB.
You start the better player. It was tough for Dabo to bench that one guy for Trevor Lawrence, but it had to be done.
We aren’t going to waste Bryce Young eligibility so we can start freakin’ Mac Jones lol come on now, it ain’t happening. Jones is average, and average QBs are a dime a dozen.
quote:
Same here. I hope future NFL 1st rounder Bryce Young doesn’t fall victim to that too.
Look at the recruiting rankings, look at the skill sets...
Bryce Young is in the Tua Tagovailoa/Justin Fields/Trevor Lawrence tier.
Mac Jones is in the Greg McElroy/John Parker Wilson tier.
Knowing what you know now, do you want Tua Tagovailoa or Greg McElroy starting QB for your favorite team?
quote:
Based off 4 games? Watch the replays on ESPN, Macs arm isn’t that great
quote:
It’s mind-blowing to me how someone’s birth year has that much weight in these decisions.
Bryce Young was the #2 recruit in the country. He’s a 1st Round pick, & seems to have all the tools NFL QBs need.
Mac Jones was the #329 ranked recruit in the country. He’s average, does nothing extraordinary, won’t be in the NFL, & will have a business job somewhere in 5 years.
Who will be better In December with 10 games of experience? It’s Bryce & it isn’t close. Hurts should have NEVER started over Tua because he’s older, and Mac should NEVER start over Bryce.
quote:
If you have 3 football teams, all 3 oozing with 4-5 star all Americans, and one is being QB’d by Trevor Lawrence, one by Justin Fields, and one by Mac Jones, well, you better hope yours is the one that doesn’t have Mac.
It’s going to be pretty pathetic watching Fields/Lawrence be the difference makers while a player that could be better than both of them rots on our bench.
quote:
Mac Jones, just ridiculous.
Guys like Bryce Young are here for 3 seasons. Why stunt his growth? Give him those game reps. Mac is an average guy, a dime a dozen.
And then, just like that, you see the switch. Now he's all in on Mac, and every criticism he's had about him never existed.
quote:
I don’t know how I’d rank each of those categories, all I know is I’d take Mac over Tua every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
quote:
I believe Mac Jones would have been great before a lot of you think. Remember the a-day game after the 2nd & 26 game, Mac outplayed Jalen, & the gap was pretty huge.
quote:
So I don’t hate Tua or anything, but he was EXTREMELY overrated. I’d take Mac over Tua, and it’s not even close
quote:
True topic, and Mac > Burrow is just another reason why 2020 Alabama > 2019 LSU.

I would honestly be shocked to see him play at all in the rest of this tournament. But the fact that Nate even mentioned this is a big positive in my book. I feel like if it had been REALLY bad, then they would kinda already know and not even entertain the idea of him playing so soon.
