Look out for Harvard, Yale, and MIT next.
re: Besides college football, what is your next favorite sport to follow?
Posted by deputyfife on 1/13/26 at 9:58 pm to PSS101
None. And I'm mostly done with college fb.
I've come to the conclusion that watching/following pro sports (college is now professional) emasculates men.

Aren't player limits gone? If so, and if the boosters don't mind paying the extra, then picking up players for cheap with high upside seems worth it.

Can we get more Auburn defenders?

could you post stats of % black pop at the time of desegregating the football team? You might be right, but Missouri has large black populations in both StL and KC, and those two cities are about 85% of MO pop.

That isn't what flyover state is referring to.

Very true, what you said does not actually contradict what I said. But that takes levels of exploration beyond what you can find in academia today.

God named him Israel for a reason. You are going to struggle with God, and not understand him.
The bible never promises you a fun or happy life. Mostly the opposite.

When you do find God, though, it turns out he was right next to you the whole time.

Disagree with your characterization.
Mizzou started and anchored the original Missouri Valley Conference, then was a big part of changing that conference to the Big 6, Big 7, and finally Big 8. The merger with 4 Texas schools to form the Big 12, Mizzou didn't exercise much power toward. I always felt that was Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Mizzou only left after others started flirting and it became toxic.

I'm not necessarily in disagreement, but Widenhofer inherited Onofrio's teams, which had the talent to upset anyone. Stull inherited Woody's talent.
Also, as far as Barbara Euhling goes, she had more years to work her "magic" against our football program by the time Stull started. The training facilities were at least a decade behind everyone by the time he started.
The Big 8 at the time was like a knife fight in an elevator, and Nebraska and Oklahoma were usually the only ones with knives. Colorado had some high years during that era.
I'm also sure some coaches from before the 1940's (Faurot) had bad results.

I'm ambivalent. Either way is fine, as long as Mizzou is smart enough to have a current list of who they want.

If the world were fair, all property related to the universities belongs to the citizens, since they granted land tax priveleges, and/or money.
Disgusting. The PE firm could end up forcing contracts on the team, and therefore university, for services at inflated prices while stripping out the assets and saddling debt onto the university.

I'm not sure what Piano pedagogy is, but if it involves a high level of playing piano, they will probably have a job.
Plant biology was the only one that sounded bad, but it could be that it's essentially folded into something else.
Keep cutting. Mizzou should cut more than they did.

Sounds familiar. There was an article about Mizzou's Oline coach in the last 20 years, who exhibited some weird behavior (can't remember, just that it seemed like Steer Clear territory) and had bad results.

re: Glad Drink is staying
Posted by deputyfife on 11/27/25 at 5:46 pm to Drydock
I hope so too. But considering he just got a raise that puts him near top 5 status, it seems more likely he'd mentally respond as if he's doing everything right and they wanted more of the same.
The OC next year is more important than retaining Drink for me.

re: Drinks buyout..

I'm okay with Drink staying, but I didn't imagine him getting much of a raise. I would have rather gotten an unproven, but smart coach.
I think NIL means you can get players despite lack of coaching track record. Just need for some school to prove it, and Mizzou would be the ideal guinea pig.

re: Drinks buyout..

I think the NIL era allows for having an X-and-O's guy. Players are making their choices based on money and opportunity(playing time.)
Mizzou's budget for coaches and NIL allows us to get enough talent to compete with anyone. We only need smart coaching to lean on our advantages and avoid opponents' advantages.
What I'm saying is the worst rebuild I could imagine, if the coach is competent, is 1 year where things slip through our fingers because of timing.
If our coaching search has already begun, and has solid targets, we could probably avoid most of the roster attrition that hits teams that have coaches leave.

This isn't the old paradigm. If we are paying 1.5 million, he has to be producing results. Practice QBs in the NFL cost less.
These are professionals. We can get much better talent for that money.
