"allies" that we can't depend on and ones we can

Which allies did this expose that we can depend on? and how did it re-shape global trade or oil? besides Venezuela which is a nice catch.

But that just validates anyone saying frick Iran and that these leaders can’t remain in place.

If Iran starts fricking with EVERYONE and throwing fits and lobbing missiles and closing straights in the future, Trump wins.

If Trump set up the conditions for a MORE hardline regime to take over, and that is being suggested that could be the direction Iran goes, then Im sure some folks will lay the blame of future hostilities on him. The fact is this situation will never be fully settled unless a coalition commits to full on total war and occupation of Iran with closely guided regime change or some how the Iranians clean up their own house. Neither of those two things are likely going to happen and we will likely have to "mow the grass" again in another 5-10 years.

With the receiver, do you also use it as a stereo? Awhile back I was looking at stereos just because its been awhile since I had mine and.. well music today is made to be listened to from headphones are Bluetooth speakers and sometimes I just get the itch to want to listen to the music I listened to growing up in the way they were made to be listened to.

If so, how do you listen to your music?

Occasionally I'll crank my main system with some tunes in just stereo mode but along with the sound bar systems it mostly for shows and movies. I mostly listen to music in my car or with headphones at the gym or when doing chores. I do miss the old days of youth with my first Kentwood stereo and a pair of Bose 301 speakers blasting in our rec room.
If i was just wanting to get a system for listening to music I would get a solid receiver with bluetooth and nice pair of book shelf or floor standing speakers over a sound bar for sure.

What exactly has all this goodwill from the last 80 years of military protection and imbalanced trade deals with our "allies" given us?

I mean if you want to zoom out you could say all of humanity surviving the cold war was a benefit and NATO played its role. Having those bases allows us with a substantial amount of force projection abilities but its arguable whether that been put to good use. With reference to the gulf states the petro dollar agreement has certainly played a role in propping up our economy.

t this time, everyone is making sure Trump owns its closing. Even our old allies. Nobody is going to skip over Trump to give Iran hell for closing it.

In 7 months? When we’re gone?

Who the shite do you think is going to take the blame? Iran will be on an island and won’t have the cover of the whole world being gay af and blaming Trump.

Seriously, what do you think the fallout will be if Iran closes it in 2 years?

I mean isnt the goal of the deathcult hardline wing of the IGRC ultimate goal to set the conditions so that the Shi"ites face the ultimate persecution that brings the 12th Imam back? Hence why they can never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. So if they cant get a nuke, perhaps they try another way. Who knows who or what the mindset of the Iranian power brokers will be in future. For better or worse we have totally destabilized the leader ship and could end up with foks that are even more hardlined that dont give a frick about "the fallout" and actually welcome it.

I am going to have to take a look at them to see whats available now.

You def get what you pay for in that market. Sub $300 are usually not great. Better than out the box TV sound , but that about it. The Denon DHT S517 with sub is my bedroom system and it cost around $500.00. Works perfect for that room. My den has the Samsung S60D bar and I got the associated sub and rear surrounds. All together around $800 and is a decent small living room/den set up. Nothing compared to my living room full separate speaker and receiver set up but that cost 3 times as much. The really expensive, like $1500 plus sound bar systems can start to give a lower cost separate set up a run for their money imo. Really depends on the size of the room and your listening location relative to the set up.

Should we leave them alone then and allow them to someday acquire the technology? Should we leave them to enrich enough uranium to develop a dirty bomb that could be smuggled into the USA and detonated here?

The price of doing nothing now will end up being a price we can't afford to pay. They will nuke us or somebody else if they are allowed the means to do so.

What do you propose we do? Nothing? Sit around and wait for it?

Its the cost associated with total and complete elimination of that threat and the potential devastation Iran could do with conventional arms that has given every administration in the past pause and is why trump has not yet committed to total war and still wants a deal.

So I pose the question to you and others. What cost should we and those in the region be willing to pay to totally eliminate the threat now and forever?

You ever see tits on a bull? That is equivalent to a soundbar. Unless you get one with a sub woofer or something.

I was of that mind set for a number of years but the higher end sound bars are pretty impressive now. I still prefer a separate speaker set up but for a small room or for folks that just want the plug an play simplicity, there are some impressive sounding options out there.

This has been a problem for decades and every president since Reagan has kicked this can down the road

They all had to do a cost benefit analysis and deemed it too costly and the possibility of a catastrophic blow to the global economy too risky. The fact that Iran could cause massive wide spread damage to oil production and shipping in the region has in essence meant they already have/had a weapon of mass destruction. So we've been in a state MAD with them for the past 45 years and been relying on limited air strikes, Israeli ops, and negotiations to try and contain the nuclear threat. Even now, despite all the bombing, the blockade, etc.the threat to the gulf states seems to still be in place. The massive arsenal of missiles and drones buried deep with the mountains of Iran have proven to be difficult to neutralize to the point that we can deem them no longer a significant threat.

Trump is trying to do what others did not think was possible.... eliminate the nuclear and conventional threat Iran poses to the region ....on the cheap. so to speak...and its proving not that easy. He is now trying to make a deal with the IRGC and not wanting to commit to total war due to the potential cost in blood and treasure. and if he does make a deal...he is also just kicking the can down the road.

No and this is far from over but there are plenty of ways this can go sideways for us that could present opportunities for China.

As I understand it those ships were not carrying Iranian oil which is supposedly what were are blocking or trying to block from exiting the straight.

Do you let 600,000 Chinese students into your country to study at your universities if you are at war with China?

Yea lets not only allow hundred of thousands of citizens from the supposed enemy and country we are at war with to study here but double their numbers.... as Trump sees it as a beneficial business, economic, and diplomatic move......

Iran is about a lot of things, but China's unhealthy relationship with that country has always been a factor. And again, China's interest in Iran's oil supply is a not an insignificant factor.

And depending on how all this plays out, China may end up looking like the more stable partner to some of the gulf states.

Trump needs a clear victory in Iran when all is said and done

So what is your definition of a clear victory? B/c according to the Trump administration we have already achieved a clear victory and its time to wrap it up.
