I grew up and lived in Lafayette until I was 20. Been in BR ever since and I’m 35. I like BR and have lived in 70808 and 70820 so the nicer zip codes. I loved Lafayette and wouldn’t hate moving back but my job is tied to BR.
Lafayette definitely has a small town feel for mid size city.
It’s also much cheaper than BR as far as child care, and education. Plus if you live in brousssrd, youngsville area you can utilize public school. In EBR, private school is almost a must unless your child can get into gifted. The local BR private schools are a lot more expensive than TCH and STM.

The fishing is probably still good bc it’s a huge lake and I’m sure ppl are keeping some. I kept the sac a lait and knew quite a few who did the same.
The problem is it’s private and that complex has a gate. So getting in would be difficult and know idea if they’d run you off.
There is a neighborhood closer to the Burbank side and you may be able to try from there. Not sure if it’s gated or not but on google earth, backyards of houses might be backing up to the lake.
We took our almost 3 year old and almost one year old in March 2025 and had a great time!
Both grandmas came to help which was a plus. The one year old was easier than the 3 year old tbh but both handled the trip well. Plus, kids under 3 get in for free and can just eat off of your plate.

My wife and I took our now almost 4 year old last month and left the 2 year old with grandma. It was such a fun trip.

We plan on going back with both in March 2027 again before we take a few years break to allow both to be tall enough to ride everything.

I never saw the deer but their tracks were everywhere especially along the woods side of the pond.
Of course a few would wind up hit along Burbank and Nicholson so you knew they had a good bit.
It was absolutely full of wood ducks and as a hardcore duck hunter at the time, I contemplated how much trouble I’d get in if I went blasting one morning lol.
Shame it’s all developed now with basically no woods left.
The fishing was top notch, at least back then.

Yea best bet is getting permission from friends or family that have ponds in their neighborhood.

I’ve said it before but the huge pond off Ben Hur where that apartment complex that used to be called the Cottages was absolutely awesome for bass and sac a lait when I lived there from 2012-2014.
Lots of ppl who didn’t lived there also fished it and I guess never got run off.
My biggest went just under 6 and you’d catch 2-3 pounders as much as you’d like.
The bass were all built like footballs with huge bellies. That pond had a ton of shad and the fish just feasted on them.
It’s the best neighborhood pond I’ve ever encountered.
11 golds now and 30 medals!
Officially the most successful Winter Olympics for Team USA in terms of gold.

Probably won’t hit our overall medal record which is 37 at the Vancouver 2010 games. These games are an enormous success for TEAM USA
Unfortunately, I think it’s inevitable Canada will win this match.
Yea this 2-1 lead does not feel safe for Finland.
They’re being much more aggressive in this first half of the 3rd.
They’re being much got close to getting a third goal.

We’re one hold away from 10 which we haven’t hit since 2002 when we were the host. We’ll probably finish with second most gold and second most overall medals.
This is a successful games for Team USA.
Pundits are saying Stolz raced a good race with a great time. This guy beats him almost 3/4th of a second in a race Stolz has been winning all year by about a whole second.
It definitely catches your eye.

Wife tested positive for type A yesterday. She took it yesterday and is a different person today.
I took it yesterday as well as more of a precaution. Not showing any symptoms.
Each was $35 with our insurance here in BR.

In the 2002 games an Australian stayed back of the pack hoping for a wipeout. Sure enough, on the final turn the other 4 got taken out and he easily won the gold lol.
Ohno was leading that race.
In college for spring break, we’d calculate a case of beer per person per day.
It wasn’t just traditional drinking, we’d do plenty of shotgunning, funneling, beer pong, and power hour throughout the day.
Oh to be 18-22 again.

Besides SB 44 for obvious reasons, I’ll say SB 36 patriots over rams.
I was 10 and it was probably the first football season that I really followed closely in general. I was very caught up with a team called the Patriots possibly winning it all in the aftermath of 9/11.
That game gave birth to the legend of TB12.

We’ve been blessed with a lot of close SB games.
In general, SB 49 & 51 are probably the 2 best games I’ve ever watched in terms of the SB.
The first one I can remember basically watching the entire game is broncos over packers. I was very upset bc I was a big Favre fan.
I can hazily remember some of packers over patriots.
Maye has been atrocious the entire playoffs though.
They’ve all been fine with very popular performers. I realize it’s not for everybody but they’ve been pretty decent at the minimum.
The Dr. Dre one was awesome and my favorite of the Jay-Z ones.
I’m very skeptical of the bad bunny one but we will see how it goes.
Absolutely loved it. They had more players interviewed than any other doc I’ve watched on this story. Seeing the players celebrate with their families was awesome and the post game conference after the Finland game.

The HBO doc from 2001 or so is a must view and of course the Disney movie.

I still think his speech to them before the Finland game is much better than the one he gave before the Soviet game.
“If you lose this game, you’ll take it to your bleeping grave”. Goes to leave, stops and repeats “you’re bleeping grave”

My Tecovas Caiman leather.
Super comfortable and I like them a lot.
Spencer Callahan’s mansion back there is far and away the biggest house on that street and zero chance it approaches 20k sf.
I’ve seen the construction, it’s big but yea it’s not 20k sf lol.
Ethan Pocic is also allegedly building right there.
It’s a great street to go ride bikes on if you can catch somebody coming or going out of the gate.
