re: Rule of 55

I just had a long conversation with Principal myself last week. Here is what I learned, and it wasn't exactly what I thought.

This additional tax of 10% is the penalty paid if taken before 59.5.

I asked if I could roll my other IRA's into my Principal 401k before I left and if that would make ALL those funds available. YOU CAN NOT.

In my case, mine is all in a Roth 401k.
25% is employer input (not taxed matching)
25% is post tax monies I put in
50% is growth of all said monies.

I could pull my 25% I put in early without the 10% early withdrawal penalty, I've already paid taxes on it. good to go.

The 25% match, they didn't pay taxes. so no early penalty, but I'd owe taxes on deposited amount.

The 50% growth, no early penalty no additional taxes.

The two are totally different things.

Gold has a practical application in its usage these days as well as a store of value....ish. But, we keep finding more, it's mined constantly and that won't stop. It's not scarce, it simply has more demand outpacing the supply.

BTC on the other hand; now that the world has buy in, will be the true denomination in which things are measured, valued, etc. It is finite, getting scarcer everyday (think of people that constantly lose the ability to access it), stockpiled by those who possess the foresight and soon will be able to be transacted even more easily.
true competition will be well received; may the best man win.
kid with talent coming in to compete.....and at worst back up a guy with medical issues. He knows there is probably more than a good chance he will see some action.
I do like him. But, I doubt he will EVER have 5 seconds of unmolested time to get that kind of ball off unless something crazy like JB Heisman moments against UT and UGA happen.
It might come down to that, lol.
We are going to be on both sides of this coin this year and moving forward.

Contracts should either be binding.... or don't bother having a contract.

We have people celebrating about what was about to happen with UW, but then in the next breath complaining about Trey'dez Green.

I just want people to that want to be here and not for the money.

where are the OL at?

Posted by oneg8rh8r on 1/6/26 at 5:53 pm
that's what I want to see
in that highlight reel, there wasn't a defender within yards of his receivers. He won't have that luxury against our competition.
development and time in system.

we have had the luxury of starting with more decorated stars labeled talent, but have failed at a bunch of positions to develop them beyond where they started relative to our opponents.
Did you think guys trained in a system would simply sit in the corner and drool on themselves without the HC?
Neither one deserved to be anywhere near the playoffs
We are going to need approximately 9-10 really mean, dog OL. Without out them, NO QB is going to sign not knowing they aren't going to be looking at the sky all night, running for their life and having NO time to get passes out. Stud WR understand this as well, you could be the best WR in the country, if the QB is throwing 5 yr routes because that is all the time he has, it doesn't work.

I know CLK is talking to the best QB and WR's, BUT it will be all for naught, just like JB his first yr in Cinci.
NO smart QB is going to make a decision to come to LSU without knowing if the OL will be there.

re: Caden Durham to portal?

We failed at RB development, OL development and play calling in the face of lack of development. They recruited well, but that is where they stagnated.

The RB coach and the OL coach and the play caller needed to figure out each's strengths and weaknesses and use accordingly, they did not. Good riddance to all of them.
Those two and our C are the only 3 that I think are worth fighting for.
Berry chose OM, Lacy chose LSU. I am of the opinion that they both would have had very similar results behind the same OL. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him in a heartbeat as an addition, but not a swap.

WE NEED OL way more than a 2nd back that will have Berry production behind a untrained / unskilled OL.

As long as the funds used to acquire Lacy don't interfere with OL budget it would be nice.
All that is for naught without the best OL.
QB - 2
C - 2
OL - 6
LB - 2
RB - 2
DB -3

In this order.
The options for CBB on an 7-5 team, although all the losses were to AP top 25 teams, will be substantially different if he stays put and is the DC for a NC team.

Look at the pieces that he will have to work with next year ALREADY, add the portal to that and the talent will be SICK; with an O to boot.

The timing is right for Tulane, but the ceiling would be through the roof if he stays a year or 2.
