Bauer hockey skates are the tits.
My kid wants to play hockey. Started skating lessons at 3, $180 for 8 week sessions. Public skate passes for extra practice $30 each time we go. Skates for me, $300(last time I got skates was in middle school), skates for him $80 first pair, $120 second pair, already outgrew the first pair, helmet $80, gloves $100, hockey shorts, $75.

Somewhere around $2,000 and 2 years in I have a 5 year old who is a proficient skater, working on his backward skating and ready to buy another couple hundred bucks worth of gear and put a stick in his hand.

He’s played multiple other sports etc and we went about 6 months without skating due to other commitments. He’d be fully proficient in skating if we hadn’t had that break but I’d have spent another $500+ as well.

Not an affordable sport. Our local rink (we live in TN) posts their power bill on the office window for everyone to see, it’s $15k in winter.

Well known issue, these are basically glorified flat boats without any normal hull design features that give directional control at lower speeds and reverse , they will also beat you to death in choppy water compared to fiberglass boats.

Yes I have used EAA for Xplan for several years and once you join eligible once the waiting period passes, no catch simple to generate a pin.

Some dealers will negotiate better than xplan but it gives you flexibility and a guaranteed deal.

Join EAA for xplan or shop around a bit should be able to get a 150 tremor under that. I had one was a great truck. I have had a bunch of Superdutys and a Raptor and wouldn’t discourage anyone from looking at a 150 Tremor.

Titan has had a lot of mixed reviews over the year but in general most Nissan products have been solid. Nissan though is on the verge of bankruptcy, their dealer network is losing a bunch of cash and their future product plans are all up in the air. Just not a situation that would make me feel good going in on a new truck.
no idea need to login to my workspace admin and see may need to upgrade from whatever comes with workspace standard to something more advanced. I've used grok and chatgpt quite a bit for other things and they've been useful but really want to automate some data collection in email.
I can't even get this pile of shite google gemini to simply extract data from my gmail box from a particular email source and organize it into a csv I can cross reference with sales data.

IE i get leads from an email leads@leads.com I want to export a lead list from email and then export my sold client list from our primary software suite to cross reference how many leads from that source actually bought this year. gemeni will create a table with limited data but when I try to get a full dataset it just reponds with a bunch of bullshite about what it can't do.

I guess I could connect the email address to outlook and give copilot a crack at it.

re: TCL outdoor TV died last night

I have a Samsung from around 2014 it has been outside almost 7 years now on a covered porch. Has been covered with a garbage back when pressure washing etc but has gotten plenty of wind blown moisture etc. also located above wood burning fire place, hasn’t missed a beat. Was a nice 4k tv back when new, with the cost of new tvs I just throw another Samsung up there when it does die. No need to blow $3k on an outdoor model.

Sounds like his wife needs to go look for a real job that provides health insurance. Do the pottery stuff as a side job / weekend hobby.

Or just a bullshite job for local hospital or a health insurance company. My wife works 2 days a week as a nurse. Doesn’t make a ton of money part time but when you add the $30k value of her benefits it’s a big help. Best hack as a business owner to get your family good benefits until you can scale the business enough for the cost to make sense.

I'm going to let you in on a secret. That was really only 6 inches

My wife opened Apple weather on her phone earlier and said yup it says we got 12” of snow already. I looked outside at the 4-6” of sleet on the ground and figured no use trying to explain this to a woman.

Good news so far no freezing rain and the fridge is full of beer/food.

re: yamaha big tiller handle

Posted by tes fou on 1/21/26 at 11:39 pm to
You need 2 parts the tiller and the fitting kit. Retail is 800ish for new. The fitting kits tend to randomly go out of stock at times as well.
We used to shop one in college that had guns, tailgate supplies and all of the regular hardware store staples.

We have some independent stores that are part of Orgill’s (big hardware distributor in Collierville TN) network and they’re similar to ace, good outdoor cooking sections, solid selection of hardware items and employees that aren’t complete idiots etc.

Wish we had a good store that combined the outdoor/hunting/guns/hardware store concept all into one. I’d be there all the time.
As many Super Bowl/natty rings as you possess. Otherwise if you’re not a mobster the answer is 0.

Worked for me, had kid coughing in my face with flu and took this. Didn’t catch it. No side effects.

Took Tamiflu a few years ago and after the first day I stopped, that shite made me feel worse than the flu. Wife also took it last week as prophylactic at dr’s request and made her sick as shite.

re: Credit score frickery.

Posted by tes fou on 12/22/25 at 9:41 pm to
It’s computer algo and you just have to look at it in its simplistic form as each factor is a positive or negative. If you have things it’s counting as a negative (no installment loans open) then you need other factors that it counts as positives to outweigh the negatives.

A lot of fuss is made about removing negative info from reports but another important factor is simply diminishing anything negative by overwhelming it with positive info. You have one tradeline reporting on time payments each month, if you had 10 it would be 10x the amount of positive factors getting counted each month. Avoid negative factors as much as possible and try to add a few things that are considered positive. Most credit cards only need to be used once every six months or so to keep them open.

Someone with only one account with any recency doesn’t give a lender a lot of info to go off of and most consumer loans don’t get bogged down in personal financial statements etc. they just want to run a credit report and see you’re a reliable payer.

You can probably add a couple credit card accounts even if you don’t frequently use them and have a visa/MC as a backup to your Amex you’ll see a big bump up in your scores.

Also as a person with a thin file it’s a good idea to have a relationship with a smaller local bank or a financial institution who holds your investments they will consider relationship more than just score.
20 years ago a 3-400hp car was a “fast car” these cars with 700+ hp are insanely fast. The amount of acceleration and grip the 296 has is mind blowing. First time in 296 to me was like the first time you ride a super bike like an R1 or hayabusa. Someone explaining it doesn’t prepare you for it.
We market new items there, in general people are complete idiots. I will have people who see our ads for brand new items sold in our retail store and inquire asking if we will take random used household items as trade.

I generate a ton of sales from Marketplace, it’s more useful than other online channels that cost us thousands of dollars per month, it’s just very inefficient because you’re dealing with a medium that’s overrun with low IQ individuals and makes it easy for them to communicate with you.
I have flown a good bit on a TBM, cool little planes. One trip I Was riding shotgun with a very professional pilot (retired widebody captain) departing right before a front flying into some nasty weather.

Maintenance guys had done some update and had the Garmin screens all pissed off and not talking to one another, throwing errors up and being obnoxious.

I quickly saw how so many guys without a lot of experience could get overwhelmed and allow the weather combined with a bunch of warnings and alarms to distract them while a perfectly good airplane turned itself into a lawn dart.

Small planes don’t bother me at all but amateur pilots do. Things happen very fast in a small turboprop/jet and the ability to stay calm and make sound decisions when there’s a problem is not a natural trait without experience and training.
